Posting Closing Date: 4/28/23The primary focus of the job is to establish and maintain relationships between schools and local industries to develop career pathways, job readiness skills and employability for students. The job involves creating and implementing strategies to connect high school students with industry professionals and employers to provide them with exposure, experience, and networking opportunities. The incumbent will also create educational opportunities, connected to curriculum, for junior high students to learn about potential career pathways.

  • This is a three year term position stipulating a probationary first year._

Responsibilities:


  • Support Division wide implementation of Career Pathways plan
  • Support timetabling in high schools that will support internships, RAP, and Work Experience (Work eX)
  • Conduct research to identify potential industry and postsecondary partners and employers
  • Develop and implement a plan to engage high schools and indSustry partners to establish relationships
  • Develop marketing materials, presentations, and other communications to promote the program to schools and industry partners.
  • Organize and facilitate networking events, job fairs, and other initiatives to bring high school students and industry professionals together.
  • Coordinate with educators and industry professionals to develop internship and mentoring programs, and other opportunities for students to gain handson experience
  • Develop resources to support staff and student learning
  • Collaborate with consultants in the use of the programs of study to provide opportunities for students to explore interests and aptitudes as they relate to career pathways
  • Provide leadership in the Division in building capacity with career pathways
  • Work with stakeholders to provide a range of career exploration experiences for students
  • Develop and maintain relationships with families, students, school staff, industry, and postsecondary institutions
  • Advise staff across the Division on a range of career pathways planning
  • Develop and maintain authentic relationships with teams and departments including Educational Planning Services, Learning Services, and Student Services
  • Develop resources to support student learning and development and collaborate with school leaders to identify program needs
  • Support the use of resources, including contacts within professional learning communities
  • Identify, create, coordinate and deliver activities to meet the needs of staff and students

Qualifications

  • Degree in Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Education, Journeyman certification or related area, plus five years related experience.
  • Knowledge of project management and event planning techniques and principles.
  • Knowledge of local industries and workforce needs.
  • Understanding of high school programs of study, funding model, and education systems.
  • Knowledge of leadership and practices, partnership principles and collaborative practices
  • Knowledge of program development and project management techniques, principles and practices
  • Knowledge of records management principles, Freedom of information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Legislation;
  • Knowledge of MircroSoft programs including Excel, Outlook, SharePoint and databases
  • Knowledge of workplace safety and awareness of Occupational Health and Safety regulations
  • General knowledge of the Division/department operations, business, programs goals and objectives
  • Advanced problem solving, assessment and analytical skills.
  • Superior oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to work with people from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and sectors
  • Strong time management, planning and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize responsibilities
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds and organizations
  • Ability to navigate highly challenging and political situations that have the potential to escalate quickly
