Legal Assistant - Wills & Estates
We are looking for a proactive, detail-oriented professional to provide legal support in office for our busy law firm in downtown Edmonton.

We are one of Edmonton's most well-established law firms. We are a modern firm who has evolved over the years, but whose strong reputation for excellence hasn't changed since the 1800'sResponsibilities:
- Draft correspondence to clients, legal counsel and the courts
- Manage the overall operations of files; client billings, file openings, maintenance, time entry and file closings
- Review and proofread outgoing documents to ensure they are correct and comply with legal procedures
- Draft and file documents with applicable courts (electronic filing where applicable) and followup as required
- Manage clientrelated aspects including client relationship management; file organization and management; appointments and meetings; diarizing files and various administrative tasks as required
- Handle regular and electronic incoming mail and other material, telephone inquiries and couriers, and coordinate the flow of information
- Manage lawyer's calendar and schedule appointments
- The ability to manage multiple files and adeptly handle daytoday issues
- Check for conflicts; complete new client file and matter openings
- Access and use online legal resources
- Maintain client contact lists
- Serve as a Commissioner for Oaths
- Other related administrative tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
- Successful completion of a legal assistant program from a recognized educational institution with a minimum of 5 years related experience in Litigation / Wills & Estates or a combination may be considered
- Understand Alberta Rules of Court and Litigation
- The capability to prepare routine legal documents without the assistance of a lawyer
- A strong organizer who consistently keeps files moving forward while juggling priorities within a fast paced, high volume, deadline driven environment
- Selfmotivated with a cando and positive mindset
- Professionalism with a calm diplomatic approach
- Experience with PCLaw, Acumin, Worldox an asset
