Reporting to the Leasing Operations Manager, the Insurance Loss Prevention Specialist will be primarily responsible for the settlement of total loss personal auto claims and the tracking/monitoring of insurance policies to ensure adequate coverage and other requirements are maintained.

The incumbent will play a critical role in ensuring risk is actively managed and mitigated. This role will have regular contact with BMW Financial Services clients, retailers, insurance providers and vendors.


Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Answer incoming telephone calls with courtesy, acknowledge customer inquiries quickly and respond with empathy.
  • Document information on insurance claims and total losses from external customers and retailers.
  • Attend to customer inquiries concerning insurance claims and their contractual obligations.
  • Investigate, negotiate and settle total loss insurance claims for BMW FS leasing portfolio, while maximizing insurance proceeds and minimizing deficiency balances.
  • Actively monitor and followup on insurance deficient accounts by engaging with clients, insurance providers and external vendors, as required.
  • Establish and maintain a positive relationship with both internal and external stakeholders and ensure business needs are met.
  • Prepare and analyze reports to effectively support insurance loss prevention and providing feedback on trends.
  • Collaborate with other business departments to identify inefficiencies, control gaps, and assist in the development execution of improvement initiatives.
  • Other ad hoc assignments as required.

Qualifications:


  • University Degree, Bachelors Degree in Business is an asset.
  • Relevant Financial Services, Automotive, Insurance or Banking experience is required.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy.
  • Demonstrated high level of accountability and responsibility.
  • Ability to properly handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively make decisions and take ownership in resolving issues.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to effectively manage external vendors.
  • Strong computer skills, experience with Microsoft Excel, SAP and Tableau would be an asset.
  • Familiarity with automotive leasing concepts is required.
  • Previous experience in a callcentertype environment would be an asset.
  • Bilingualism (English / French) would be an asset.
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced, team environment.
