Position Summary:


The Group Fitness Instructor - Strength & Conditioning's main responsibility will be to oversee most varsity teams' strength and conditioning performance.

The responsibilities will include working with the Strength & Conditioning Coordinator int the creation of a team training programming, team testing, summarizing and monitoring of the testing, operation of team & Individual sessions, running on court/field developmental sessions and attending occasional team practices (when necessary).

The Group Fitness Instructor - Strength & Conditioning will need to develop the athletes/team for the success of competition at the OCAA & CCAA championship.

The individual will also continue to support the coaches and the team's expectation in the pursuit of excellence.


Responsibilities:


Program Development, Implementation, Education & Evaluation

  • Perform strength and conditioning duties as assigned in a manner that is consistent with the successful operation of the intercollegiate Strength and Conditioning Program.
  • Establishing athlete/team performance targets, evaluation framework and feedback mechanism; testing and program evaluation, and maintenance of regular contact with athletes.
  • Support strength and conditioning testing periods, logging results, monitoring athlete performance and flagging issues of compliance (in and off season). Assist in the preparation of annual team/athlete performance reports.
  • Stay current with research and practices that are necessary to assist with building and maintaining a provincial and national competitive program.
  • Conduct daytoday monitoring of open times in the Fitness Centre and ensuring that training and use of equipment is conducted in a safe manner.
  • Interact with and support other varsity team programs, participate in department initiatives, attend department events/activities.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Manager of Varsity & Operations.

Qualifications:


Education

  • Minimum 2 Year Diploma in Fitness Health Promotions.


  • NSCA

  • CSCS (Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist)
  • Current First Aid & CPR is required.

Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year of workrelated experience in an athletic performance environment, working with athletes in a team and individual setting.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of strength and conditioning profession, strategies and techniques.
  • Basic understanding of the rules and regulations of the OCAA & CCAA is an asset.

Skills

  • Experience dealing with and developing high performance athletes in a college/university environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, creative thinking and the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to exercise discretion, good judgement, and solid decisionmaking.
  • Organizational skills and time management abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, oral, written and presentation.

A skills assessment test will be administered during the recruitment process. This position will require physical effort.
