We pride ourselves on the culinary creations served from our kitchen and are looking for an experienced and passionate cook to lead our team in Sidney Care.

The ideal candidate for this position has previous experience in a long-term care setting and can give direction and run a full-scope kitchen.

If you have health care industry experience and a passion for making great tasting food, and strong customer service skills, we would love to hear from you.

Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm

Job Summary:
To provide healthy, fresh and meals to the residents and visitors at Sidney Care HomeDuties and Responsibilities:Following direction from head cook, implements the four-week menu plan following sections 62, 63, 64, 65, 66 & 67 of Community Care and

Assisted Living Act:
Residential Care RegulationMaintains a safe, clean and organised kitchen and storage area abiding by Health and Safety RegulationsSupervises and directs Dietary Assistants/Kitchen AssistantsEnsures compliance from other kitchen workers standards, policies and procedure of Sidney Care Home, Residential Care Regulations and Safe food handlingEnsures the kitchen runs to times with having food prepared ready to serve following Community Care and

Assisted Living Act:

Residential Care RegulationsPlans, prepares, cooks and serves meals at lunch and dinner time following the four week menu plan or has a substitute meal in placePrepares meals for special diets (minced, puree, diabetic)Ensures portions sizes are appropriated and requested taking in to consideration likes, dislikes and allergies according to individual nutrition plansMaintains a record of temperature control for fridges, freezers, and hot water (dishwasher), and keeps a log.

Maintains a log for the fat trap maintenance and emptyingEnsures a safe and secure environment in the kitchen and dining room for staff, residents, and visitorsParticipate and complete mandatory training and educationWHMISViolence PreventionHand HygieneEmergency ResponseParticipate in annual performance reviewsUnderstand the policies and proceduresKnow where to find the policy and procedures binderUnderstand and follow the infection prevention and control, and Occupational Health and Safety policiesUnderstand the complaint procedure and refer all concerns to the leadership teamBe aware of reporting hazardsContribute to maintaining a positive, safe, home like environment for residents, visitors and staffEnsure the safety of yourself and others within the workplaceDevelop and maintain excellent standard and work place best practiceQualifications:
Food Safe – Level One (Level Two preferred)

Skills and AbilitiesHave the experience, competence and training necessary to ensure that food is safely prepared and handled and meets the nutrition needs of the resident in careGood written and verbal communicationDemonstrates good time managementFlexibility, can work independentlyPhysically and mentally able to perform duties for above positionShows a caring and considerate attitude to resident, visitors and staffAbout us:
