Overview:
Objective:
The Quality Control Technician (Level I) role is to perform the basic physical testing of plastic and hardened
concrete and aggregates. He/She shall have general understanding of concrete and concrete testing, basic
computer skills, knowledge of reading drawings and the production process.
Structure:
The Quality Control Technician reports to the Quality Control Supervisor.
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations.
- Networking with other precasters, Lafarge companies and outside organizations, if required.
- Develop knowledge of concrete technology.
- Promote safety awareness
Planning
- Schedule regular testing of materials
Technical/Operations
- Testing of plastic and hardened concrete
- Sampling Plastic Concrete
- Temperature of Freshly Mixed Concrete
- Making and Curing Concrete Test Compression and Flexural Specimens
- Air Content of Plastic Concrete by the Pressure and Volumetric Method
- Slump of Concrete
- Density, Yield and Cementing Materials Factor of Plastic Concrete
- Compressive Strength of Hardened Concrete
- Ensure all testing is performed as per CSA and ASTM standards.
Testing of Aggregates
- Sieve Analysis
- Fineness Modulus
- Decant
- Moisture
- Inputting and reviewing results
Dimensions:
- Reports to the Quality Control Supervisor
Qualifications:
Education:
- High school diploma or Post-Secondary education in Civil Technology
Experience:
- ACI certification Level I
- Min. 1year experience in a precast industry and quality control department
- Basic Computer skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Good organization, communication and planning skills
- Team player with a positive attitude.
