JOB SUMMARY
:

The Primary Prevention Services Worker** reports to and works under the direction and supervision of the Supervisor of the Primary Prevention Services Unit.

***The purpose of this position is to participate in program planning and implementation of prevention strategies, provide supervision, safety, assistance and program support to children/youth participating in the program and other related duties as may be assigned by the Primary Prevention Services Supervisor.


The scope of responsibilities is in the development and delivery and evaluation of programs, workshops and special events to enhance community wellness including therapeutic and culture based programming.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Post-Secondary Diploma in Child and Youth Worker, Social Work or equivalent of five years' experience working with children and/or youth and the willingness to attend up to date trainings
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills;
  • Competent in recording minutes (formats compatible with the Records Management requirements of record keeping);
  • A valid Ontario class "G" driver's license and a principal driver of a reliable vehicle;
  • Must pass a Criminal Record Check before employment commencement;
  • Ongwehonweh in preference to other applicants;
  • Available to work flexible hours in accordance to working environment;
  • Knowledge of traditional approaches in helping;
  • Strong knowledge base of the community of Six Nations and the services within the Territory;
  • Extensive knowledge of the range of methods and techniques that are employed in social work proactive;
  • Will be knowledgably about Haudenosaunee culture and the contemporary characteristics of the Six Nations' social structure;
