In accordance with Article 9.05, where the previous incumbent returns to this position within the thirty (30) day trial period this position shall be deemed not vacant and the posting will be cancelled.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

To edit dictated reports on the appropriate patient and visit using eSription One System.


PRINCIPLE DUTIES:


  • Listen and edit dictated reports using eScription One system maintaining a high standard of accuracy, quality, completeness and quantity. Ensure that Quality Assurance standards are maintained. Maintain strict confidentiality with regards to all information accessed while performing duties.
  • Edit/correct reports as required and directed by Physicians and/or Manager using eScription One or Quadramed PCS system.
  • Participate in the overall function of Health Information Services Department with regards to assisting physicians and other hospital and departmental staff, i.e. searching for reports. Report all issues (poor dictation quality, equipment failure etc.) to Manager promptly for resolution.
  • Stay abreast with new medical terminology. Participate and/or assists in the training of new employees and coworkers as required.
  • Ensure that correct referring/family/attending physician are copied for accurate distribution of reports.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Office Administration
  • Medical, 2year Diploma (College) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 1year Medical Office experience within last 3 years or recent program graduate within the last 2 years.
  • Keyboarding 55 wpm
  • Editing 50 wpm on a speech recognized report test
  • Ability to use a computer and transcription equipment/software with high level of proficiency
  • 70% on medical terminology test.
  • 70% on transcription test including grammar, punctuation and spelling (English terms included).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Alphabetical and Numerical Filing.
  • Proven ability to attend work regularly.
  • Satisfactory criminal reference check and vulnerable sector search required.
