Location

Position Overview
This position is responsible for working with the Prosecutors to provide court room support. In addition, this position has administrative, clerical and customer service responsibilities for the Prosecution Unit. This position will work 35 hours per week

Responsibilities
The Provincial Offences Act Prosecution Case Administrator will primarily be responsible for:

  • Preparing briefs and gathering information for Prosecutors, including meetings with witnesses and witness preparation
  • Requesting, gathering and monitoring receipt of disclosure information (i.e. witness statement, police records, etc.) and forwarding to defendants and their agents as required
  • Performing administrative duties related to prosecutions, including but not limited to the disclosure of documents and notice requirements, preparation of court dockets and ensuring all files are present for court, maintain and update statistics and reconciles accounts payable
  • Providing customer service function for the Prosecutors. This includes answering phones/ and responding to inquiries related to prosecutions from staff, legal representatives, and members of the public
  • Preparing, issuing and forwarding subpoenas for witnesses.
  • Preparing the prosecution units' accounting including but not limited to obtaining and preparing monthly credit card statements, cheque requisitions and invoices for approval by manager.
The Provincial Offences Act Prosecution Case Administrator may also be responsible for:

  • Gathering additional information requested by Prosecutors (i.e. other witness statements)
  • Preparing reports, correspondence and legal documents including motions for adjournment, relating to the Provincial Offences Act
  • Arranging appointments, scheduling meetings and performing other duties as assigned
  • Attending court in absence of the Prosecutors to request adjournments, and to deal with guilty pleas and first appearances.
