The
Stoney Creek, Ontario office is looking for organized, detail oriented and professional
Environmental Health and Safety Coordinators to join the team.


SUMMARY OF THE ROLE:


Reporting to the Area Manager and Corporate Environmental Health and Safety Manager, the Environmental Health and Safety Coordinators will be responsible for implementing, monitoring and enforcing the Company Health & Safety policies and programs, while ensuring safe working procedures on company work sites and facilities.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Track and report weekly workplace inspections to site manager
  • Complete and maintain site specific safety documentation as required (JSA's, inspections, site training, equipment certifications, ETC)
  • Implements and oversees site safety program
  • Liaises with management and labour to ensure that the highest level of due diligence is maintained
  • Provides counsel and advice to Company management on all H&S related matters
  • Coordinates and attends onsite health and safety meetings
  • Provides site Health and Safety coaching, training, indoctrination, orientation to employees
  • May chair or cochair Health & Safety Committee
  • Thoroughly investigates accidents/incidents and health and safety related complaints
  • Help manage WSIB forms and oversees light duty return to work programs
  • Generates H&S statistics and provides regular reports in a prescribed format, to the Environmental Health and Safety Manager
  • Performs weekly site inspections and monthly safety audits
  • Maintains daily/weekly/monthly work activity logbooks
  • Maintains safety records and documents
  • Maintains record of all safety and site information used to provide statistics, charts, reports etc.
  • Ensures compliance with OHSA and all other relevant H&S related legislation and regulations
  • Ensures management remains aware of any potential H&S related issues that may negatively impact the business
  • Works with management and employees to develop and implement appropriate return to work and modified work programs
  • Maintains zero tolerance for on the job safety infractions

KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:


  • Current knowledge of OHSA, WSIB, Construction and Industrial Safety Regulations
  • Current or previous CPR and First Aid training certification
  • Experience in WHMIS, Fall Protection/Arrest, Lock out, Confined Space, TDG training
  • Completions of postsecondary education (Diploma/Degree in Management or Occupational Health & Safety) an asset
  • CSAO certification by the Province of Ontario, an asset
  • CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) designation, an asset
  • Certified H&S trainer, an asset

SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:


  • Practical experience in construction site Health & Safety
  • Experience in developing and monitoring modified work or light duty programs
  • Demonstrated experience in working with WSIB adjudicators
  • Specific experience working on a construction jobsite is preferred
  • Excellent communication abilities (both written and verbal)
  • Capable of identifying safety concerns and speaking and working with those responsible for correction
