Responsibilities:


Who You Are
The Entrepreneurship Advisor plays a critical role in the day-to-day operations of Morrissette Institute for Entrepreneurship. As Coach, you are essentially the "front door" into the world of entrepreneurship at Western.

You will have a fundamental knowledge of supports and programs within the University and across the City - which will help you educate and direct student entrepreneurs to appropriate resources and services at the right time.

You will also lead or work with other Institute staff to accomplish tasks and initiatives which have a significant impact on the success and future growth of the Institutes Programming.


What You'll Do - Your Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Client Advising
  • Provide guidance for up to 20 scheduled clients a week (students, faculty, staff, alumni), with respect to developing business plans (market analysis, strategy, competition analysis, operations, finance, etc) or in the development of specific tools to grow their business (cash flow projections, marketing plans, presentations/pitch decks)
  • Assist in identifying and accessing sources of funding for startups, including grants and business plan competitions
  • Assist clients with connections to other resources in the university ecosystem, including other Institute clients, and within the broader London community
  • Stay abreast of current developments within industry
  • Publicly support clients in the community
  • Present across campus and in the community about the resources and services available through the Institute and greater Western Entrepreneurship Ecosystem
  • Institute Initiatives and Priorities
  • Support the Institute team to execute events and programming
  • Work with the Institute team to create new entrepreneurial opportunities
  • Assit the communications team with sourcing client success stories and and in spreading the good news about entrepreneurship at Western through social media channels
  • Faculty Engagement (predominantly students)
  • Drive (strategy and execution) cross campus student engagement
  • Assist faculty across campus with in class presentations or workshops
  • Provide programming targeted to students in the different Faculties on campus
  • Work with the residence halls on entrepreneurship programming
  • Work with student experience on entrepreneurship programming

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • A University degree is required
  • Entrepreneurial experience is preferred
  • Experience in Western's Morrissette Institute for Entrepreneurship Programming is preferred

Skills & Abilities

  • Experience working with students or peer mentoring preferred
  • Experience working on a small team and assuming multiple roles an asset
  • Excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to complete detailed analytics and reports
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and an ability to communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders (students, staff, partner organizations, mentors, potential donors, government officials, etc)
  • Proven ability to assess business opportunities quickly and efficiently
  • Selfmotivated multitasker with strong organizational skills
  • Judgment, analytical and problem solving skills with a consultative and collaborative approach to addressing issues and opportunities
  • Demonstrated ability to think innovatively and to propose and initiate new programming ideas or service delivery models that meet the needs of students, alumni, youth, community members, and campus partners
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced environment, meet tight deadlines and adapt to growth and change
  • Strong record of team work with the motivation and ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning and professional development
  • Understanding of the role that entrepreneurship and innovation programs play in the engagement and development of all constituents
  • Valid driver's license with access to a personal vehicle, preferred
  • Ability to work within a flexible schedu
