Canada West Veterinary Specialists is an exciting multi-disciplinary specialty referral practice with a dedicated 24-hour ERCC service.

We hold a unique designation as one of the first verified Veterinary Trauma Centers in Western Canada, designated per the Veterinary Committee on Trauma (VetCOT).

We have 7 specialty departments, including Oncology, Neurology, Diagnostic Imaging, Surgery, Internal Medicine and Anesthesiology, with added services including Rehabilitation Therapy and an in-house lab.

Position:
Internal Medicine Communications Liaison


Department:
Internal Medicine


Reports to:
Communications Supervisor

***This communications liaison position performs tasks similar to a receptionist and is responsible for facilitating timely and effectively in-coming and out-going communication between the departments and their various internal and external contacts.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure all Service records are complete, and correctly documented as per hospital paperless protocol and procedures
  • Receives and returns all incoming and outgoing telephone calls for the Service
  • Ensures all emergent telephone calls and referrals are triaged appropriately and delivered to the team member on the case
  • On direction from individual doctors in the service, obtains information from or disseminates information to clients, referring veterinarians and their practice staff, CWVS doctors and staff
  • Enters referrals into the computer system, ensuring that all important documentation is attached and prepared before consultation days
  • Assists the service in its overall communication with other areas of the hospital (other services, ICU, Wards, and reception)

  • High level of professionalism
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Exceptional client service skills and experience
  • Ability to adapt to and understand client needs
  • Strong team player
  • Medical/Veterinary knowledge is an asset

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Previous reception experience is an asset

WORKING HOURS

  • Monday to Friday: 9:00 am 5:30 pm
