About the role
We're looking for a
Crime Claims Specialist to join our growing team
As a
Crime
Claims Specialist in our Specialty Lines team, you will primarily be responsible for the direct handling and monitoring of complex Commercial Crime and Financial Institution Bond (FIB) claims.
Ontario:
Ajax/London/Mississauga/Toronto (700 University Ave)
Western Canada:
Calgary AB/Vancouver BC
What you'll do here:
- Assessing coverage under the respective policies or bonds and communicating coverage positions or issues with underwriters and other internal stakeholders, brokers and insureds
- Commissioning or critiquing forensic accounting reports
- Quantifying loss and determining appropriate reserves
- Identifying and pursuing maximum recoveries
- Retaining the services of internal or external panel legal counsel, accountants, private investigators or other consultants (when necessary)
- Attend site visits (when necessary)
- Effectively negotiate claims when appropriate
- Attend settlement conferences and trials
- Provide brilliant customer service to brokers, customers, and colleagues
- Deliver on all key performance indicators as it relates to loss development, claims leakage control and expense management
What you bring to the table:
- A critical thinker and have intellectual curiosity when approaching complex problems in time-sensitive situations
- A skilled communicator allowing you to foster favorable business relationships and provide clear guidance to clients and stakeholders, internal and external
- A problemsolver and able to gather information, evaluate a situation and negotiate the next steps toward a solution
- Able to adapt to changing needs and understand the need to be flexible and agile
- A planner and able to effectively organize to establish an effective strategy
- 3+ years' Property claims experience (including direct handling of Crime claims).
- Appropriate knowledge of all relevant regulatory and legal requirements applicable to the position
- Undergraduate Degree, CIP or CFE designation (asset)
- Bilingual
- French (asset)
