SURVEY & DRAFTING MANAGER

***: Reporting to the Director, Project Management, the Survey & Drafting Manager will provide leadership and direction to the field survey, drafting, and machine control groups within Sigfusson Northern. This position will work closely with Trimble and Topcon equipment and machine control systems along with AutoDesk Civil 3D. The Survey & Drafting Manager will communicate daily with senior management, project management teams, clients, and subcontractors to ensure expectations are being met. This position will be located in the Winnipeg, MB office.CORE RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
- Train, mentor, and develop members of the Survey and Drafting Department to foster career development with strong technical skills
- Recruit for the department to adequately support project needs
- Establish and manage subcontracts and service agreements to meet project survey needs.
- Coordinate with project sites for project specific survey and drafting needs
- Participate in developing technical project requirements, in collaboration with the project team
- Responsible for the safe delivery of survey services across Sigfusson Northern's project portfolio
- Manage survey and drawing information exchange between the department, the project team, and subcontractors
- Participate in the development and improvement of documentation, such as the project execution plans, survey handbooks, CAD drawing standards, departmental survey needs and rotational schedules
- Coordinate with project teams and Corporate Quality group to ensure QA/QC project requirements are met
- Collaborate with Operations and Fleet Business Units to determine proper survey equipment allocation to satisfy project requirements
- Liaise with equipment vendors for equipment supply and technical support
- Review capital budgets for survey and machine control equipment
- Lead survey and drafting asset management (assess survey equipment lifecycles, develop criteria for replacement, replace equipment as required, manage survey capital budgets
- Develop, monitor, and achieve all department specific key performance indicators
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:
- 6+ years of related work experience in the construction industry
- College, university, or technical trade diploma in Geomatics, Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Experience leading, mentoring, and managing a large team
- Experience with Trimble SPS Rovers, TSC 7 and Topcon equipment
- Familiarity with Autodesk Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, and GIS software
- Must always keep safety and quality of workmanship as a top priority
- Teamoriented leader with strong technical ability
- Keen interest and skill in leading, mentoring, and developing others
- Extensive knowledge of surveying, and CAD design and integration
- Critical thinking and effective decisionmaking skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written
- Strong accuracy and attention to detail
- Must hold a valid driver's license
