Qualifications Required and Preferred- Masters in Social Work

  • Registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers in good standing.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the OCSWSSW Standards of Practice and commitment to maintaining reflective practice standards as described by the College.
  • Demonstrates experience and knowledge in case management and discharge planning
  • 35 years experience in a psychiatric/mental mental health setting or service.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of community services, including out patient supports and day treatment programs
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Mental Health, and relevant policies and legislation, such as the Mental Health Act and Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA).
  • Sound knowledge of DSM-IV diagnoses, concurrent disorders and crisis intervention theory and techniques an asset.
  • Proven ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and demonstrated competence in performing, case management, clinical assessment and intervention and documentation of care.
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of the theory and practice of clinical social/mental health work in the Adolescent field.
  • Thorough knowledge of social work treatment methods applied in mental health settings/community.
  • Knowledge and experience with the challenges involved in community reintegration of longerstay psychiatric inpatients.
  • Demonstrated competence in individual, group and family therapy.
  • Indepth practice of CBT and DBT an asset.
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational, problemsolving, decisionmaking, conflict resolution and critical thinking abilities.
  • Proven excellent interpersonal skills and effective oral/written communication skills.
  • The ability to work with clients of diverse ethno racial and cultural backgrounds and proficiency in a second language is an asset.
  • Ability to perform the physical demands of the job.
  • Variable hours may be required due to patient demand.
