    Description
    Roska DBO Inc. is currently seeking a full-time Purchaser in our Fort St.John area. This is a 5/2 shift and you must be local to the area.Candidates should have at least three years of experience in the oilfield industry. With a strong knowledge of purchasing of oilfield materials, equipment along with some proficiency in word-processing and spreadsheet applications is required. A diploma or journeyman certificate in a related field would be an asset from a recognized technical institute is also a requirement. The successful candidate will have solid communication, organizational and team skills complemented with a strong work ethic.

    Reporting to the Central Superintendent and Maintenance Foreman, the purchaser responsibilities include but are not limited to, the following:

  • Intermediate level computer skills in Word, Excel
    • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Effective negotiation skills when dealing with vendors/suppliers
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Effective team player with a high level of initiative and integrity.
  • Effective problem solving skills with the ability to "quickly think on the feet" to resolve problems using a practical, common sense approach
  • Attention to detail
    • Dependability and reliability; demonstration of regular and punctual attendance Knowledge and experience with operating lifting equipment (forklift).
  • Use the Bill of Material to manage the purchasing and logistics of materials required for each specific project/job.
  • Participate in the recommendation and implementation of approved purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Manage purchase requisitions or quotes on materials to ensure appropriate decisions are made regarding choice of suppliers; obtain purchase order numbers; ensure suppliers and purchase order requirements meet.
  • Develop and maintain a master inventory binder/database, and maintain an accurate count of all inventory.
  • Follow all required Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures including WHMIS procedures, and the wearing of appropriate personal protective equipment (e.g., safety glasses, steel toed boots)
  • Adhere to quality procedures and work instructions, and actively participate in the quality improvement process. Working Conditions:
    • Primarily indoor industrial work setting
    • Overtime may be required.
  • Determine method of shipment and arrange shipping; prepare bills of lading, customs forms, invoices and other shipping documents manually or by computer. Move shipments by hand or using material handling equipment.
  • Know proper shipping procedures for transportation of dangerous goods.
  • Inspect and verify incoming goods against invoices or other documents, record shortages and reject damaged goods.
  • Perform general housekeeping task within the shipping/receiving area.
  • Ensure main yard is maintained and complete storage yard inspections when required.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license.
