About the Position

Reporting to the Construction Manager, the New Home Inspection Representative contributes to the organization's success by championing product quality, fostering customer loyalty and contributing to product innovation.

Their expertise ensures that products effectively represent the brand and meet the customers needs. This role is integral in helping facilitate successful handoff of new homes from construction to new home purchasers.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Engage with customers leading the Pre-Occupancy inspections of their new homes
  • Review the customer purchase selection in their file to ensure that the new home follows the selections that the purchaser made with sales.
  • Ensure that product is ready for client review.
  • Work with the Project Quality Coordinator to complete scope specific quality reviews in new homes.
  • Monitor home completion progress against committed sales dates.
  • Participate in mockup reviews with finishing trade contractors to ensure that building finishing quality standards are established and understood early in the project execution.
  • Participate in product knowledge opportunities of home finishes to develop in depth product knowledge.
  • Utilize information gathered from customers to support continuous improvement of product quality and product development.
  • Support the documentation and communication of Quality Lessons learned and best practices across projects and update overall construction QMP documentation to reflect this learning.
  • Support the maintenance of quality metrics for the company across all projects, by scope and by trade to identify trends for corrective action.
  • Ensure that product is ready for client review.
  • Ensure overall quality meets or exceeds company quality standards.
  • Capture and communicate all noted deficiencies with new owners and site staff.
  • Ensure the mutual satisfaction for both the customer and company subsidiaries.

Qualifications

  • Highschool diploma or GED is required.
  • Post-Secondary academic study in related field preferred.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in residential construction industry in a role related to quality control or construction finishing is preferred.
  • Must possess general construction knowledge; understanding of construction materials and methods related to all scopes, systems, and components necessary for the construction of residential properties.
  • Intermediate knowledge of the Alberta Construction Performance Guide for New Home Warranties is required.
  • Must be able to read and interpret manufacture product specifications, and warranty requirements, and identify variances from project specifications.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction specifications and drawings.
  • A clean drivers abstract is required for the operation of company vehicles on public roadways.
