Core Job Purpose


The Manager, Risk, reports directly to the Director, Risk, and holds a key role in overseeing the daily operations of the Risk team.

The primary focus involves supporting the execution and continuous evolution of the Corporation's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Program under the Director's guidance.


In addition to managing the team, the Manager actively leads exporter transactional risk management by conducting comprehensive due diligence, ensuring informed decision-making in corporate transactions.

The Manager plays a pivotal role in aligning the Risk team's efforts with corporate objectives, integrating risk management practices into operational strategies.


Key Duties

Supports the Director, Risk in:
- the implementation and maintenance of the ERM program to guide risk management activities Corporate-wide, including responding to evolving business needs.
- the oversight of business unit risk assessments and ensures risks are identified, mitigated, and managed.
- performing export transactional risk due diligence and assesses company credit, industry and other applicable risks (e.g., taxation) and impacts (e.g., cash flow) on complex export transactions.
- creating reports and developing recommendations for the Senior Management team as required.

  • As a member of CCC's Integrity Compliance and Human Rights Committees, providing support to best ensure that export transactions fit within Canadian and international environmental, social and governance (ESG) standards.
  • Working in crossfunctional teams to conduct and improve overall risk due diligence processes and practices.
  • Assisting the business development team with ongoing customer service throughout the transaction structuring process.
  • Ensuring accuracy and timeliness of Risk Team deliverables into quarterly risk reporting requirements.
  • People and Organizational Management
  • Provides mentoring, coaching and performance management (including training opportunities) for functional resources.
  • Delegates work to team members based on prioritization and alignment with skills and workload.
  • Responsible for ensuring productive and positive culture for departmental staff.
  • Serves as a point of escalation for due diligence issues within the portfolio.
Operational Accountabilities

  • Supports continuous improvement of the ERM framework.
  • Conducts risk analysis to identify, quantity, prioritize and mitigate risks for effective mitigation and recommend strategies to the business units on contracting activities.
  • Reports on compliance of the Corporation's risk management program.
  • Supports Corporation's focus on Operational risk including the development and maintenance of:
  • The Corporation's departmental security plan
  • The business continuity, disaster recovery, emergency response policies and procedures and reports on compliance
  • Supports the oversight of the corporation's insurance portfolio, recommending appropriate coverage, and negotiating and managing premiums and renewals.

Education, Experience, & Core Knowledge

  • Completion of an undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, business, or commerce.
  • Chartered Professional Accounting designation or Chartered Financial Analyst.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of experience in financial due diligence, with a minimum of five (5) years of people management.
  • Bilingual (English/French) C-BC imperative
  • Knowledge, skills, and experience in management of financial professionals, operational planning and risk management, project and change management.
  • Knowledge of issues, trends, best practices, and challenges related to risk analysis, financial risk assessment, and insurance.
  • Knowledge of office productivity software and databases, disciplinespecific software, enterprise software, and technology devices.
