Position Summary:

Reporting to the Manager of Payroll and Benefits, the Payroll and Benefit Administrator is responsible for all aspects of payroll processing and administration, plays an active role in developing and improving payroll policies, and provides superior customer service to internal and external customers.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

  • Process US payroll (75%) and Canadian (25%) for hourly and salaried employees, for weekly, biweekly, and semimonthly payroll cycles, in timely and accurate manner according to the provincial/state and federal payroll regulations
  • Assist in reconciling any payroll discrepancies, and prepare payroll reports and journal vouchers
  • Process payroll remittances for WCB/WSIB premiums, garnishments, RRSPs, 401K plan, and health and dental benefits
  • Maintain employee files and any pertaining employee documentation related to payroll, issue records of employment
  • Implement salary increases, bonuses, and such, in accordance with company policies and instructions provided
  • Manage time and attendance for hourly employees, such as importing Kronos time files into UltiPro software's payroll system
  • Assist governmental institutions with information and reporting requests
  • Act as primary source of payroll information for LEGACY SCS employees, respond to inquiries in a timely fashion
  • Ensure compliance with company payroll and HR policies
  • Participate in payroll and HR related training to expand expertise and build qualifications; specifically take part in HRIS training to resolve basic HRIS inquiries
  • Contribute to a healthy LEGACY cultural environment
  • Assist in other duties as assigned

  • Knowledge of HRIS, such as UltiPro/Ultimate, is an asset
  • A demonstrated ability in developing professional relationships with good communication skills
  • Ability to work in a demanding, fastpaced environment
  • Ability to handle confidential information in an ethical and professional manner
  • Strong accuracy and attention to detail
  • Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills
  • Strong English communication skills
  • Results driven, highly organized, and deadline oriented
  • Amiable to learning new skills and taking on challenges
  • Knowledge of both Canadian and American federal, provincial and state laws and regulations related to payroll

Education and/or Experience

  • 510 years of relevant work experience with Canadian payroll; US payroll an asset and will train further on this
  • PCP certification required

Computer Skills

Work Environment
The work environment tends to be an office setting. Visit and work in other sites such as warehouses and transportation centers may occur occasionally.
