We have an opening for the exciting role of

Payroll Manager:

at Price Steel Ltd.

The successful

Payroll:

professional would work closely with Price Steel Ltd. operations and the corporate finance team that supports the Group of Companies.

You will use your payroll expertise in this hands-on position, by continuing to develop payroll and company best practices at Price Steel Ltd.

and some its affiliated entities. This role will be a key player in the growth of our business and within the corporate group.


_Key Responsibilities_:


  • Manage and Administer full cycle payroll for multicompany organization (350+ employees) in accordance with existing policies, procedures, regulations, and legislation
  • Review new hire information and ensure compliance with internal processes and payroll regulations
  • Generate reports to support statistical analysis related to employee time, production, pay and benefits information
  • Ensure compliance with CRA, applicable government policies, guidelines and legislation, pension plan requirements
  • Answer employee queries related to payroll matters, tax issues, and benefit plans
  • Manage the completion of the biweekly payroll, including accounting, journal entries and reconciliations
  • Reconcile payroll accounts at period end and work closely with division controllers on month end accruals, etc
  • Manage the yearend reconciliation processes, government reporting, preparation of annual returns
  • Maintain personnel files ensuring all data is accurate and complete
  • Responsible for the control and integrity of all payroll data
  • Actively identify any internal control gaps and work closely with senior leadership on the implementation of solutions
  • Work closely as part of corporate leadership team identifying opportunities for efficiencies and improvements within existing workflows

_Education and Experience_:


  • Postsecondary diploma or Bachelor's degree in business/human resources/related field
  • Professional payroll designation
  • Minimum five years full cycle payroll experience
  • Knowledge of Alberta Human Rights, Employment Standards, PIPA, WCB legislation and any other relevant legislation
  • Experience with payroll software, Ceridian Dayforce is an asset
  • Advanced Excel skills
