Associate Manager, Investment Operations

**Description: - Permanent Full Time- The Investment Operations team is responsible for all accounting and valuations for Canada Life segregated funds and general account assets.- The Associate Manager is responsible for managing key aspects of Investment Operations functions and daily fund valuations. This position is responsible for providing oversight in our daily procedures and activities. In addition, the Associate Manager provides guidance and training to other employees in the unit including the review of other employee's work and leading projects. This individual provides support to management, is responsible for initiating and implementing process improvements, and assists with development of financial control processes.


Accountabilities:


  • Provide direct leadership to operations team and delivering onthejob coaching and feedback to develop junior employees.
  • Provide oversight and review of daily, monthend and quarterend operations, net asset value release, and reporting including identifying risks and assessing control adequacy.
  • Responsible for oversight of manual and automated trading and reconciliation process.
  • Interact professionally, cultivate business relationships, and work collaboratively with other functional areas and key business partners such as: Custodian Bank, Investment Managers, and auditors.
  • Leading and/or participating in continuous improvement, streamlining and documentation of processes
  • Leading and/or participating in professional practice, departmental initiatives, and special projects
  • Directly support junior employees in problem solving and assists management team with planning individual career development of employees, and workload balancing.
  • Responsible for supporting the training and development framework in the department
  • Participate in departmental business and resource planning

Qualifications and Competencies:


  • University degree, majoring in accounting and/or finance, with a professional accounting designation
  • Completion of the Canadian Securities Course would be considered an asset
  • Experience with segregated funds, mutual funds and securities/investments would be considered an asset
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and decisionmaking abilities.
  • Strong leadership skills with ability to lead processes and develop strong team members.
  • Experience with supervising and/or leading employees within a team environment
  • Welldeveloped organizational and time management skills, with the ability to deal with fluctuation work volumes, and possible competing priorities.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written form, including experience delivering difficult messages and drafting formal business memos
  • Selfmotivation with a passion to learn and embrace new challenges
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Outlook and advanced Excel functions
  • Strong attention to detail
  • The base salary for this position is between
    $61,900*:
  • $114,500 **annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
