Summer Student Term Positions - Bedford Campus

  • Join the Northwood team this summer_
We are looking for dynamic individuals to be a part of our team at the Halifax Campus for the following positions:

Community Development Worker:

Music Coordinator

All Positions Details:


Length of the term:8 weeks - Part time positions


Number of hours:70 hours bi-weekly (Varied Shifts - Days and Evenings)


Salary:
$16.30 per hour


_ Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
_


  • Grade 11 or higher
  • Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment;
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act(1)., and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
  • Must have interest in working in Long Term Care
  • Interest in community development, recreation or social services.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT WORKER POSITION

  • Participate and support community development, recreation, physical wellness as well as support individuals with finding appropriate resources for their social prescriptions for local seniors living in public housing and in the local community.
  • Provide seniors with appropriate assistance and information to be able to participate in community gatherings, special events, recreation activities and physical fitness.
  • Support volunteers with their assignments; provide training and orientation to new volunteers and seniors.
  • Maintain communication links with multiple internal and external clients.
  • Participates as a member of the team in planning and operations to gain on the job skills training.

June 5, 2023


MUSIC COORDINATOR POSITION

  • Ability to play musical instrument(s) and/or sing; Perform to small and large audiences; Event planning and facilitation

Responsibilities:


  • Participate and support community recreation, and wellness programs
  • Provide seniors with appropriate assistance and information to be able to participate in community gatherings, musical events, and small group music programs
  • Plan and implement music group activities
  • Perform for senior groups
