Location Lindsay, ON

Hours Normal Working Hours 35 hours per week, possible Saturdays. General office environment. Some travel throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes may be necessary in accordance with job requirements.

  • Ensure a high degree of innovation and quality in services, respond to the changing interests and demographics of the community
  • Establish short and long term marketing and promotional plans in cooperation with the Division staff and monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the strategies
  • Prepare and monitor budgets for the delivery of programs/special events in the service area
  • Investigate and initiate new programs, events, partnerships, sponsorships and other sources of revenue for the City's Parks, Recreation and Culture Division
  • Responsible for program registration and administration through the CLASS software system
  • Prepare regular program/event reports outlining all activities, results, and recommendations, including changes to Division policies and procedures
  • Provide facilitation/resource services and volunteer development to area cultural groups, sports organizations and community associations
  • Provide support to facility booking inquiries and reporting
  • Handle daytoday complaints and inquiries as requested, attend various public meetings and liaise and support community volunteer groups (including all volunteer hall committees)
  • Actively establish and facilitate community development initiatives while maximizing facility usage and revenue generation
  • Assist with selection of staff, training, advising and guiding parttime, students, and volunteer staff in performance of tasks and duties relating to community program activities
  • Occasional travel to various work locations is required to fulfill the job duties of the position

Skills/Education Required

  • Postsecondary diploma in Recreation Studies or Marketing or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years of related progressive experience, preferably in a municipal environment
  • Experience with all aspects of recreation programming and revenue generation including but not limited to, health and fitness, children/adult/senior activities, special events, corporate advertising and sponsorships
  • Ability to generate creative and innovative revenue generation opportunities that meet demonstrated needs in the area
  • Must have current First Aid and CPR Certification
  • HIGH FIVE Accreditation preferred
  • Selfmotivated with a demonstrated ability to function positively in a diverse range of teamwork situations
  • A highly developed sense of tact and diplomacy when working with individuals and groups
  • Excellent leadership, administration, interpersonal and communication skills with a proven focus on customer service, complemented by superb organization, team building and multitasking skills
  • Demonstrated professional and ethical responsibility to protect privacy, use confidential information appropri
