The DZ Truck Driver requires a DZ license designation and is responsible for delivery of products to customers both contractor and consumer in accordance with safety regulations.

Responsibilities include providing first class customer service, correct loading of the vehicle, recording delivery information, accepting payment for goods, and ensuring overall vehicle safety.

The Delivery Driver is expected to operate the delivery vehicle in a safe manner at all times, obeying all rules of the road, and follow all appropriate company policies and procedures.

Job Duties

  • Greet customers warmly and ensure to provide first class customer service at all times
  • Operate DZ and G licensed vehicles (Flatbed vehicles)
  • Operates Lift Truck as required
  • Make deliveries throughout Southwestern Ontario and deliver products in timely manner
  • Ensure safety of pedestrians, employees and customers while operating the vehicle
  • Performs routine vehicle maintenance including documenting daily inspections and ensuring safety equipment, straps and paperwork are in place.
  • The driver ensures the proper and safe loading and unloading of the vehicle including weight restrictions and lifting devices if vehicle is so equipped
  • The driver will ensure that the vehicle is operated in a safe and courteous manner
  • The driver will follow Company Rules outlined in New Hire Driver Package
  • Maintain / track maintenance issues and keep record of trips
  • The driver must ensure that all deliveries are accompanied by an invoice and all deliveries are signed for by the contractor or customer
  • The driver will collect all COD orders and keep cheques and/or cash in a safe place until returned back to the store
  • The driver will ensure their drivers' license is up to date and meets the MTO requirements for that vehicle
  • The driver will report all infractions and tickets received both during and off duty as well as reporting any accidents; recognizing that Highway Traffic Act violations will affect his/her driving record and possibly the company vehicle insurance
  • The driver must ensure they are properly qualified and have proof of training for all equipment that the driver is required to handle
  • Ability to train, mentor and work effectively with delivery helpers (including temp labour)
  • Report vehicle violations and/or change of license status
  • Keep the vehicle clean at all times both inside and outside
  • Comply with Moffatt and Powell policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

Requirements:


  • Must hold a valid 'DZ' level driver's license
  • Must have a valid Lift Truck Certificate
  • Maintains a clean driving record
  • Follow company CVOR rules, practice safe driving procedures when operating company vehicles
  • Must have strong communication skills and able to understand and meet customer needs
  • Friendly, reliable and positive team attitude
  • Flexible, attention to detail and strong organization skills
  • Strong knowledge of the layout of city roadways, maintain awareness of road restrictions and have the ability to source alternative routes.
Work Conditions

  • Travel required
  • Required to work both indoors and outdoors
  • Able to lift up to 75 pounds
  • Able to work days, evenings, and weekends
  • Able to work overtime as required
