The Assistant Store Manager is a leader who plays a key role in the daily operations and profitability of the company according to set business objectives.

Assistant Manager Responsibilities include hiring and training sales associates, monitoring inventory and ordering merchandise based on demand. You will also research competitive products and analyze consumer behavior to ensure our store meets and exceeds client expectations.
The Assistant Store Manager will have retail manager skills with a sharp business mindset. You should also be skilled at organizing and solving problems.

Interpersonal and mediation skills will also be very useful, since you'll often be acting as a liaison between managers, employees and customers.

Ultimately, the duties of the Assistant Manager are to make sure our stores operate effectively, and that we keep our customers happy.

Responsibilities:


  • Assist the Retail Store Manager in planning and implementing strategies to attract customers
  • Execute all merchandising directives as per company inventory
  • Track the progress of weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual objectives
  • Monitor and maintain store inventory ( cycle counts )
  • Monitor Order monitor along the store manager to improve clarity of inventory
  • Inventory control to be accentuated, and also to control all PO approvals and processes at the front end
  • Evaluate employee performance and identify hiring and training needs
  • Monitor and oversee receiving area
  • Supervise and motivate employees to perform their best
  • Coach and support new and existing sales and yard associates
  • Monitor retail operating costs, budgets and resources
  • Suggest sales training programs and techniques
  • Communicate with clients and evaluate their needs
  • Coordinate employee appreciation and community interaction to become part of the community
  • Coordinate training sessions as needed to improve customer service levels

  • Analyze consumer behavior and adjust product positioning
  • Handle complaints from customers
  • Research emerging products and use information to update the store's merchandise
  • Place the Yard responsibility function and expand on the support of logistics analytics to improve efficiencies
  • Make sure all employees adhere to company's policies and guidelines
  • Support Yard Supervisor to meet yard conditions and performance
  • Increase sales, expand markets, and promote business to meet goals.
  • Ensure that all health, safety and security regulations and standards are adhered to
  • Ensure store signage and displays are maintained.
  • Assist with purchasing of merchandise (RONA orders)

Requirements:


  • Proven experience as a Retail Assistant Manager or similar position
  • Experience with recruiting and performance evaluation processes
  • Familiarity with financial and customer service principles
  • Flexibility to work in shifts
  • Management and leadership experience required.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to sales software quickly.
  • Professional, responsive, and positive work attitude is essential
The Manager / Supervisors Health and Safety Responsibilities

  • Managers are responsible for making workers fully aware of the hazards that may be encountered on the job or in the workplace; ensuring that they work safely, responding to any of the hazards brought to their attention, including taking every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of a worker.
  • Participating in the health and safety programs established for the workplace.
  • Ensuring workers are aware of all responsibilities related to their role, and the associated documentation that aligns (e.g., training, procedures, work instructions, etc.)
  • Ensuring employees are aware of their responsibilities, as outlined in the responsibilities Occupational Health and Safety Act.
