PM shifts are availableWhat you will do as a Cook
- Meet to discuss daily production and preparation plan with the Executive Chef
- Prepare and cook menu as provided by the Executive Chef
- Ensure adequate quantities of menu choices are prepared to meet client demand
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work area/station and service line including equipment
- Ensure high quality and presentation of all food.
- Follow portion and cost controls.
- Follow all recipes for food items.
- Maintain reasonable cooking time during line work.
- Follow health and safety regulations.
- Work in direct coordination with all staff.
- Clean work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, and silverware.
- Stir and strain soups and sauces.
- Keep records of the quantities of food used.
- Butcher and clean fowl, fish, poultry, and shellfish to prepare for cooking or serving.
- Cut, slice and/or grind meat, poultry, and seafood to prepare for cooking.
- Mix ingredients for green salads, moulded fruit salads, vegetable salads, and pasta salads.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 3 years combined experience in the cooking trade.
- Culinary Education Trade Papers, Red Seal or equivalent an asset.
- Minimum eighteen (18) years of age to handle alcoholic beverages.
- Demonstrated knowledge of food service and catering trends, quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, preparation and presentation required.
- Excellent verbal and oral communication skills, including giving directions and conversing with customers.
- Highly flexible, with solid communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations pertaining to the restaurant industry.
- Selfmotivated, with a positive attitude and a consistent display of professionalism.
- Acquire and maintain a strong knowledge of trends in the food industry.
- Highly effective teamwork skills.
- Attention to detail in all areas of work.
- Must be able to work a schedule including early morning, days, nights, weekends & holidays
- Must be able to transport up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 35 pounds regularly.
- Will be constantly exposed to high temperatures in the kitchen environment.
- Manual dexterity is required to use knives and kitchen appliances.
