Our EAT Eighth Avenue Trattoria culinary team is looking for someone to join them in creating awesome food. This role is for you if you enjoy working in a team atmosphere focusing on great food and service. What you will do as a Prep Cook (Mon to Fri, shifts from 6 am to 2 pm or 7 am to 3 pm)

  • Clean work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, and silverware.
  • Store food in designated containers and storage areas for easy access.
  • Prepare various ingredients, sauces, and baked goods based on Chef de Cuisine and Sous Chef's orders.
  • Inform supervisors when supplies are getting low or equipment is not working correctly.
  • Weigh and measure ingredients and portions.
  • Wash, peel and/or cut various foods to prepare for cooking or serving.
  • Receive and store food supplies, equipment, and utensils in refrigerators, cupboards, and other storage areas.
  • Remove trash and clean kitchen garbage containers.
  • Carry food supplies, equipment, and utensils to and from storage and work areas.
  • Make special dressings and sauces.
  • Stock cupboards and refrigerators.
  • Chop ingredients for meal preparation following Chef de Cuisine and Sous Chef's instructions.
  • Use manual and/or electric appliances to clean, peel, slice, and trim foods.
  • Stir and strain soups and sauces.
  • Keep records of the quantities of food used.
  • Butcher and clean fowl, fish, poultry, and shellfish to prepare for cooking or serving.
  • Cut, slice and/or grind meat, poultry, and seafood to prepare for cooking.
  • Mix ingredients for green salads, moulded fruit salads, vegetable salads, and pasta salads.
  • Ensuring all leftover ingredients, sauces, and baked goods are disposed of appropriately.
What we are looking for

  • Minimum 1 year of kitchen experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of food and catering trends, quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls and presentation required.
  • Knowledge of methods and procedures for serving food, sanitation principles, and safe food handling are required.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
  • Highly effective teamwork skills.
  • Attention to detail in all areas of work.
  • Superior time management, multitasking, and prioritizing tasks with mínimal supervision.
  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
