Description
This driver will transport, remove, deliver, and collect various liquid and solid hazardous wastes from various customer sites. Will be required to load and unload trucks.

Will also have the ability to operate a variety of truck and equipment including vacuum trucks, box trucks, and any other equipment that fits their license on site if necessary.

The Emergency Response Operator will respond to various incidents such as:

  • Environmental and Industrial spills
  • Clandestine laboratory decommissioning
  • Highway incidents involving tractor trailers, accidents, and chemical leaks
  • Train derailments involving hazardous chemicals, fires, and site safety planning.
  • Marine operations mostly regarding fuel spills into open bodies of water. Involving boom deployment and boat operations.
  • Weather event responses involving wind/ice storms, forest fires, and flooding.
  • Chemical assessments and advisory services.
  • Working alongside police, fire, EMS, Environment Canada, and other stakeholders.
  • Incidents involving heavy equipment, vacuum trucks, and water blasters.
  • Participating in job specific and health & safety training as required
  • Operating his/her position in an efficient and safe manner
  • Completing work related documentation and reporting
  • Follow all established organizational policies and procedures
  • Promote and participate in a work environment free of workplace harassment and violence
  • Perform work in a safe manner, so as not to endanger oneself or others
  • Reporting workplace hazards, accidents or other occurrences that may pose a risk to the organization or the safety of oneself or others
  • Adhere to the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Workplace Safety & Insurance Board Act, Ontario Human Rights Code and Employment Standards Act
  • Participate in team/staff meetings when required
  • Work in a manner that preserves confidentiality and minimizes risk

Requirements:


  • High School diploma minimum.
  • Certification from recognized Truck Driving School.
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License
  • Overtime as required.
  • Weekend work may be required, on call schedule in effect on weekly basis.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to perform routine vehicle maintenance.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with strong oral and written communication abilities.
  • Exceptional organizational abilities with task prioritization, multitasking, use of timelines and time management techniques.
  • High level of personal integrity.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Professional/mature demeanor under stressful situations.
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced environment.
  • Confident, consistent decisive personality.
  • Will be required to work both indoors and outdoors.
  • Manual dexterity, ability to lift 75+ lbs required.
