Under the general direction of the Building Systems & Products Engineer or their designate, the Electrical & Mechanical System
Monitoring and Data Acquisition Specialist will assume responsibility for the planning, coordination and installation of monitoring
devices, data analysis, report writing and presentation including recommendations to Manitoba Hydro and its industrial, commercial
and residential customers in the area of load profile, power-factor correction, power quality, energy and demand management, and
customer owned equipment energy usage.


_ Responsibilities:
_


  • Utilize both standard templates and customized sitespecific planning for energy monitoring projects in accordance with the
International Performance & Measurement Verification Protocol.

  • Monitor and provide reports on the energy consumption and demand for residential, commercial, and industrial facilities.
  • Continuously develop the working knowledge needed to accurately and effectively monitor, analyse and evaluate customer
owned equipment energy usage such EV Chargers, Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning equipment, ground source,
conventional and cold climate air source heat pumps, compressed air, refrigeration, solar PV, bio-energy, building envelope,
and industrial process equipment.

  • Initiate, plan, organize, and coordinate the installation and removal of energy monitoring devices for research, energy and
demand profiles, and power quality projects.

  • Research, source, select and purchase advanced data acquisition devices required for nonroutine innovative energy
monitoring projects.

  • Download Manitoba Hydro utility mass memory meters for purpose of analysing and preparing reports for customers about
their energy usage load profiles.

  • Access and analyse electrical load profiles in Manitoba Hydro's "Loadinfo" system for the purpose of providing reports to
customers on power factor correction and load management opportunities.

  • Liaise with Manitoba Hydro departments, contractors and customers to organize siteinspections, equipment installation and
customer meetings.

  • Create written reports and presentations including energy, demand and cost savings implications related to customer
equipment and facilities monitoring projects.

  • Provide expertise, assistance and recommendations to external customers and stakeholders for the selection, installation and
operation of data acquisition devices required for customer projects.

  • Install and calibrate data acquisition equipment at industrial, commercial and residential customer sites.
  • Ongoing data collection, analysis and verification of results.
  • Evaluate accuracy and applicability of measured building system and equipment data.
  • Develop techniques and procedures for monitoring and evaluating energy consumption systems.
  • Work in a variety of adverse site environments commonly found in the commercial and industrial sector while conducting

_ Qualifications:
_


  • Completion of a fouryear university Degree in a related discipline from an institute of recognized standing, with a minimum of
five years of directly related experience in building mechanical, electrical or control systems monitoring and analysis with
commercial or residential buildings.
OR

  • Completion of a twoyear Diploma in a related discipline from an institute of recognized standing, with a minimum of seven
years of directly related experience in building mechanical, electrical or control systems monitoring and analysis with
commercial or residential buildings.

  • Professional registration and membership in CTTAM is mandatory.
