    Financial Analyst, Corporate Reporting - Toronto, Canada - Canadian Tire Corporation

    Description

    What You'll Do

    As a member of the Corporate Accounting group, the Financial Analyst is responsible for the timely preparation of the Corporate Function expenses and assists in consolidated financial results monthly. This includes monitoring intercompany account balances, liaising with other corporate departments and business units, and execute ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as required.

    This role has high exposure across the organization due to interactions required. Given that the output is used for external reporting, accuracy and timeliness of results and reports is critical. A high degree of technical knowledge, analytical ability and attention to detail is required.

    Responsibilities

    • Perform analysis of corporate expenses and assist with balance sheet analytics
    • Prepare and coordinate the centralized expenses such as executive bonus expenses and profit sharing expenses
    • Assist in consolidation using Hyperion Financial Management
    • Prepare month-end and quarter-end corporate journal entries within HFM
    • Assist in monitoring intercompany elimination for assigned financial statement line items
    • Coordinate CEO/CFO certification of key controls and submit to management for review and sign-off
    • Analyze and prepare schedules for various financial statement information
    • Liaise with other groups within Finance (FP&A, BU Accounting, Tax, Treasury) to respond to corporate close and consolidation specific inquiries as required
    • Manage reconciliation sign offs by all teams across finance
    • Participate in ad hoc projects, analysis, and preparation of reports for Senior Management

    Qualifications

    • University degree or College diploma in Accounting or Business Administration
    • Working towards completion of a professional accounting designation (CPA)
    • 2+ years of relevant work experience
    • Strong working knowledge of consolidation principles and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
    • Solid accounting fundamental skills
    • Advanced working level of Microsoft Office Suite products such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint
    • Team spirit and commitment to continuous quality improvement
    • Ability to work well with all levels of the organization and build/maintain strong relationships
    • Working knowledge of Hyperion Financial Management or PeopleSoft is considered an asset
