SET-UP / PROCESS TECHNICIAN

Afternoon Shift 3PM-11PM


Role Overview:


As an Injection Molding Set-up/Process Technician, you will have the primary liability for all aspects of the injection molding process including, but not limited to, set-up, troubleshooting, molds, equipment maintenance and workflow.


Responsibilities:


  • Review production schedule and follow priorities.
  • Pull and set specific molds (mold changeover) in accordance with standard work practices and production schedule, in a safe and efficient manner, ensure all mold safe settings are in place and operational.
  • Follow proper mold change, clamping and setup procedures.
  • Resolve issues found during troubleshooting process or refers the issue up to the Quality Assurance or management team if issue cannot be fixed.
  • Assist in identifying nonconforming product and rework of nonconforming product, as necessary.
  • Follows proper setup/cycle sheets, setup checks and floor operation procedures
  • Clean mold and machine platen after removal.
  • Assure that all molds are protected, and all waterlines are blown out.
  • Put away molds in proper location and mark molds for maintenance, repair, and storage
  • Keep mold bases and mold base accessories clean and organized
  • Keep company provided tools complete, clean, and organized.
  • Will be required to make a necessary adjustment to processing parameters to avoid molding/process issues.
  • May be required to ensure machines stay running during scheduled operations
  • May be required to perform material handling duties and set up production area.
  • Work with Machine Maintenance to ensure machines are in optimal condition to eliminate unnecessary down time.
  • Ensure that the shop is always clean and orderly.
  • Understand and support Operator training program guidelines.
  • Communicate with QA team regarding quality issues
  • Ensure that established Company quality and safety standards are being followed
  • Observe safety rules within the manufacturing area.

Qualifications:


  • 35 years of experience in production/job shop environment.
  • 35 years of recent Plastic Injection Mold setup work experience preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of plastic resins, mold setup and functions of an injection molding press is essential.
  • Strong mechanical tendency.
  • Licensed on forklift and overhead crane operation or willingness to obtain license.
  • Must have basic hand tools such wrench, hammer or allen keys

Experience with high volume multi-cavity stack molds an asset.

  • Working knowledge of safety standards of equipment.
  • Ability to work independently without supervision and meet tight deadlines.
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally always.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Physical ability to lift to 50 pounds repeatedly.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Environmental Conditions:


While performing the duties of this job the employee may be exposed to dust/airborne particles; heights; loud noise & vibrations; mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards.

The noise level for this work environment is usually moderate.


Personal Protective Equipment:


  • PPE are required when performing job functions, such as gloves, hairnet, ear plugs, safety glasses, steeltoed shoes etc.
  • Seatbelt must be worn while operating the forklift.

Physical Requirements:


  • Must be able to perform repetitive lifting, bending, and jumping down.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 + lbs. repeatedly.
  • Possess ability to sit and stand, including frequent walking, climbing and use of stairs, bending and twisting at the waist and knees, squatting, or kneeling and carrying and lifting.
  • Ability to hear conversation and warning alarms.
  • Ability to visually inspect for small defects.
  • Ability to safely maneuver all equipment.
