SUMMARY:


The Royal Canadian Yacht Club was founded in Toronto in 1852 to serve both as a yachting recreational club and an unofficial auxiliary of the Royal Navy in the defense of the waters of Lake Ontario.

We are one of Canada's premier sailing, sports and social clubs, The RCYC operates year-round from two facilities: our Island Clubhouse on the Toronto Islands and our City Clubhouse in downtown Toronto.

With over 4300 Members, we offer extensive services in Food and Beverage along with Fitness, Sports and Sailing facilities.


DUTIES:

  • Record the accurate attendance of each child
  • Ensure the maintenance and organization of craft materials
  • Respect the individual differences of each child
  • Be a positive role model at all times
  • Clearly and effectively communicate in a manner that children understand
  • Preserve an orderly, pleasant, safe environment for children to feel comfortable
  • Establish routines and provide positive guidance
  • Provide a safe and secure environment
  • Implement positive discipline when required
  • Greet and keep parents informed of program expectations, program activities and their child's progress
  • Develop and maintain current, accurate and confidential client files
  • Guide and assist children in proper eating, dressing and toilet habits
  • Maintain childcare equipment and assist in any and all housekeeping duties

HOURS OF WORK:

  • Month Fulltime Contract
  • Childcare Centre of RCYC is open:


  • Monday to Friday

  • 9am to 8pm
  • Saturday 9am 2:30 pm

REQUIREMENTS:


  • First Aid and CPR certification
  • E.C.E. student or previous experience working with children
  • Current Police Check for the Vulnerable Sector
  • Required Immunization and TB testing completion for your region
  • Strong working knowledge of child development theories and practices
  • Must enjoy spending time with children and looking after their physical, educational and emotional needs.
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and procedures that ensure children are supervised and safe
  • Be able to model appropriate behaviour and language and to practice proper hygiene
