About the role
We're looking for a
Unit Manager to join our growing
Trade Credit team

As a
Unit Manager - Underwriting Support, your work will have a big impact on our Trade Credit group. People will count on you for the overall direction and management of employees within the Underwriting Support Group.

You will be responsible for motivating a high performing team, leading by example, and enhancing and developing relationships both within and outside of the Support team.

This position is a full-time permanent opportunity based in our Ottawa, Ontario Office.


Here are a few ways you will make a difference:

  • Lead the Trade Credit support process. You will be responsible for assigning and delegating task to the Support team to ensure that our customer services standards are adhered to and that we are continuously delivering value to our Trade Credit client.
  • Mentor, motivate and develop a dynamic team of Assistant Underwriters within the Trade Credit Team.
  • Manage your various direct report's performances by conducting performance reviews and career development discussions.
  • Ensure corporate objectives and policies are being achieved and maintained.
  • Manage and build strong relationships with brokers and clients through regular broker contact and through the oversight of the broker relationships with the Support Team.
  • Collaborate with other team leaders in the department to achieve shared goals.
  • Implement, support, and lead projects in relation to the Trade Credit strategic initiatives.

What you bring to the table:

  • University degree or college diploma in Business, Accounting, Finance, or Economics or equivalent working experience
  • Minimum four (4) years Trade Credit experience or any combination of training and experience deemed relevant for the role
  • Effective analytical thinking, planning, prioritization and execution skills
  • Superior organization and communication skills with an emphasis on attention to detail.
  • Excellent teamwork and team building skills
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality and accountability
  • Can make independent decisions within the mandate
  • Can deal effectively and respectfully with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Advanced computer skills with Word, Excel and Outlook
