What you will work on


At Harbour Cruises, the
Event Supervisor will oversee their designated banquet rooM/Function, ensuring guests in their room receive outstanding food and service.

The Event Supervisor is to be always present in the room and accessible to the convenor whenever required.

As
Event Supervisor at Harbour Cruises, you'll get to:

  • Aid and direct staff before, during and after each event, ensuring servers and bartenders know what is expected
  • Direct tables through the buffet
  • Deal with customer complaints immediately, to guest satisfaction
  • Ensure guest requirements are met, i

e:
bar service, food service, timing

  • Ensure the Food & Beverage Manager, F&B Service Manager and Chef are made aware of all complaints immediately
  • Ensure that event reports are completed and submitted to Service Manager or F&B Manager after each event
  • Check on guests at their tables to ensure their satisfaction
  • Other Duties as assigned by Management and Supervisory Staff
  • Duties and Responsibilities might be adjusted from time to time
  • Lead a preshift meeting with staff to provide an overview of the events and timelines for their room
  • Keep manager updated when staff should be added, called off or sent home
  • Ensure banquet room is ready for customer service by walking through and checking the room, noting and correcting any deficiencies before guests arrive
  • Make sure all staff working in their room are aware of the details in BEO's for each function
  • Enforce all company policies ie. uniform policy, staff breaks etc., reporting any problems to F&B Service Manager or Food and Beverage Manager
  • At the end of day, ensure room is clean and properly reset for the next function
  • Ensure service areas are clean and closing checklists are complete for your room
  • Assist with other rooms when requested
  • Record actual amounts for beverages and meals on the Event Report
  • Introduce self to function convenor, addressing the BEO and clarifying details to ensure nothing is missed or forgotten
  • Communicate with the convenor throughout the event, noting and making arrangements for programs, grace, bar closure during dinner, wine service, clearing during speakers
  • Communicate any changes in timing or meal requirements to kitchen immediately

What you will bring to the team

  • At least 1 year of event/banquet captain or supervisor in a fastpaced environment
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, stand for up to eight hours, and lift and move up to 50 pounds
  • Valid Serving it Right and Food Safe Certification
  • Ability to stay calm and composed in a fastpaced environment
  • Willingness to be a team player, handling bar duties and assisting with vessel preparation and closure
  • Foundations and knowledge of food and various alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages, including cocktail recipes and mixology techniques
  • A positive, upbeat attitude with the ability to work well under pressure within a team
  • Must have a flexible schedule and be available to work most evenings and weekends, holidays and early mornings
  • Open to learn and ability to work with feedback to support the team
