The employee will be responsible for financial and administration tasks including job costing, day to day transactions, and reporting, to ensure that the financial objectives are met.
Must be able to discern relevant information and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information pertaining to the company. This position is full time on site and offers competitive salary & vacation package. This role reports to the Finance Manager.Duties and responsibilities
- Prepare manufacturing efficiency reports for labour and material, including actual vs standard costs, on a weekly basis
- Analyze data to assist in cost reduction efforts across all operations and make suggestions for cost cutting measures
- Analyze expenditures and cost transactions; ensure that transactions are accurately recorded and appropriately assigned to accounts and departments
- Analyze changes in manufacturing processes, products, and raw materials to determine their impact on cost
- Work with the Operations team to suggest potential opportunities to increase production efficiency with the primary objective of maximizing profit
- Work with Industrial Engineer to develop unit cost reports as required by Operations
- Assist with semiannual inventory counts
- Assist in completion of month end entries. Create and maintain monthly balance sheet and bank reconciliations; ensure monthly closing entries are setup and processed correctly
- Prepare daily bank balance updates, monitor and resolve bank account anomalies
- Back up of other Finance/Accounting team members
- Support management with special projects and workflow process improvements
- 35 years of experience with costing/general accountant experience, in a manufacturing environment preferred
- CPA designation or working towards it
- High attention to detail and ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering information and maintaining records
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills required, oral and written.
- Willing to take responsibility and be held accountable for results
- Ability to perform investigations on plant floor to resolve issues, perform audits, and gather information is key
- Strong Microsoft Excel (using lookups and Pivot Tables) is an asset; experience with the AS400 platform is preferred
- Able to sit or stand at a desk or work table
- Frequent walking, sitting, standing
Schedule
- 7.5 hour work day
- Monday
- Friday, in person.
