coordinating activities and work as a team to build relationships, reputation, and resources on behalf of the University. Within University Advancement, McMaster's Development team is an award-winning group with a collective will to achieve ambitious goals.

The team is responsible for strengthening McMaster's relationships, securing gifts, pledges, estate gifts, and other forms of private revenue, and developing a community of funders and supporters for the University.

Job Summary:


Responsible for providing high quality meaningful opportunities for stakeholders such as alumni, funders, volunteers, media, community and government, to engage with and maintain positive relationships with faculty, staff, students and the University, all with the goal of maximizing reputation, relationships and revenue for the University.


The Advancement Officer is responsible for making a positive commitment to University Advancement's mission, vision and values, and principles: Integrity, Quality, Respect, Service, Strategy and Teamwork.

Due to the nature of this position some evening and week-end work as well as some travel will be required.


Accountabilities:


  • Assist in the development of relationships between stakeholders and the University by developing and implementing an engagement plan.
  • Implement funder stewardship plans and obligations.
  • Assist in the reporting on impact of gifts and recognition efforts for funders, along with supporting frontline development work.
  • Develop strong working relationships with key contacts and stakeholders within the internal and external community for the purpose of promoting the activities and programs of the Faculty or unit.
  • Assist in the development of strategies to identify and cultivate potential relationships with a variety of stakeholders and build faceface relationships with them.
  • Assist in the development of content and messaging directed towards key strategic audiences.
  • Represent the Faculty or unit through correspondence in all forms.
  • Update or develop and deliver presentations and represent the department or faculty in various publicspeaking environments.
  • Evaluate ongoing programs and recommend modifications and improvements.
  • Implement and maintain the program budget, within portfolio.
  • Run reports on the department or faculty advancement goals and performance measures.
  • Support the coordination of events and event planning involving alumni, volunteers, students, media, government, community members, faculty, staff and senior University administration.
  • Play a key role in the advancement team and contribute to the team mission of growing the reputation, relationships and revenue of the Institution.
  • Coordinate visits and participate in cultivation activities as needed to promote and enhance the University's fundraising efforts.
