A Little Bit About Us and Our Summer Student Development Program:
For the past 85 years, Kawartha Dairy has been proud to be a 100% Canadian-owned company, still operated by the same family that founded it in 1937.
Although the company has grown tremendously from its early days, it still remains headquartered in the lakeside community of Bobcaygeon, Ontario, near Peterborough, an hour north of the GTA.
We still use fresh milk and cream, delivered daily from local farms to make our premium, rich and creamy ice cream and dairy products.

Students will directly contribute to Kawartha Dairy's success while receiving an unmatched, behind-the-scenes learning experience.
Work within the QA department and gain exposure to the business of Dairy Manufacturing through challenging, hands-on projects and networking opportunities.

What you Need:
- Be enrolled in (or entering) 2nd4th year post secondary OR post graduate program
- Food Science or Food Technology students with a passion for Quality Assurance this opportunity is tailormade for you
- Legally permitted to work in Canada
- Able to work directly in beautiful Bobcaygeon, Ontario and travel throughout Ontario
- Available to work flexible shifts outside of regular hours (weekends, nights and statutory holidays) to align with production scheduling
- Available for start of program April 29, 2024 until end of program August 31, 2024
What You will Do:

Quality Assurance Support:Assist in monitoring and maintaining quality control procedures in production, from raw material inspection to finished product testing

Food Safety Compliance: Collaborate with the quality team to ensure adherence to food safety regulations, conducting regular audits and inspections.

Documentation: Assist in the preparation and maintenance of quality and food safety documentation, including record-keeping, data analysis, and reporting.

Product Testing: Participate in sensory evaluations and laboratory testing to ensure product quality and safety.

Continuous Improvement: Contribute to identifying areas for improvement in quality and food safety practices and assist in implementing necessary changes.

Training:Engage in on-the-job training opportunities to enhance your knowledge of quality and food safety best practices.
