For 80+ years, Kawartha Dairy has been proud to be a 100% Canadian-owned company, still operated by the same family that founded it in 1937.

Although the company has grown tremendously from its early days, it remains headquartered in the lakeside community of Bobcaygeon, Ontario, where it was founded, near Peterborough, an hour north of the GTA.


Today Kawartha Dairy operates 10 retail stores and services a wide range of customers, from grocery stores to foodservice establishments and of course, ice cream parlours.

The company also provides custom production services to other food companies, using Kawartha's expertise in the business to produce ice cream and other specialty dairy items to the exact specifications of these firms.


Reflecting the explosive growth in the brand and the business as a whole, Kawartha Dairy has recently constructed a 54,000-square-foot Distribution Centre just south of Bobcaygeon to serve its provincial operations.

Investments are also underway to modernize the production plant, our systems and our infrastructure.

As the Maintenance Supervisor of our close-knit Maintenance Team, you are responsible for ensuring that all equipment and machinery are maintained and serviced according to schedule, identifying and addressing any issues that arise, and coordinating the work of maintenance staff

What You'll Do:


  • Supervise and coordinate the work of maintenance staff, including scheduling, training, and performance management.
  • Supervise the daily maintenance of production equipment and provide support to mechanics and electricians as necessary, working collaboratively with them to ensure optimal performance.
  • Ensure that all equipment and machinery are maintained and serviced according to schedule, and identify and address any issues that arise.
  • Utilize computerized maintenance management software to generate and delegate work orders, and ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.
  • Develop and implement maintenance procedures and protocols, and ensure that they are followed by maintenance staff.
  • Develop and implement safety procedures and protocols for maintenance activities, and ensure that they are followed by maintenance staff.
  • Liaise with other departments to coordinate maintenance activities and ensure that equipment downtime is minimized.
  • Identify and recommend new equipment and technology that can improve efficiency and reduce maintenance costs.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, codes, and standards related to maintenance activities.

What You Need to Get the Job Done:

  • Millwright certification of qualification with at least five years of relevant experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems, an understanding of electrical systems and experience with maintenance procedures and protocols.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, and experience supervising maintenance staff.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively with other departments and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills, and the ability to identify and address issues in a timely manner.
  • Strong organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations, codes, and standards related to maintenance activities.

What Will Make Us REALLY Love You:

  • Experience in the Dairy Industry is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with dairy production processes.
  • Experience in manufacturing maintenance, along with proficiency in plant maintenance software, is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Effective resource organization and priority establishment skills are essential.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are necessary, along with the ability to work effectively with a diverse community.
  • An understanding of control systems with emphasis on PLCs, SCADA, or HMI systems is desired.
  • Familiarity with Canadian electrical and safety requirements is required.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting PI&D drawings is desired.
  • Programming experience using Allen Bradley ControlLogix and CompactLogix is
