SNC-Lavalin (Candu Energy Inc) is collaborating with its partners Aecon and GE-Hitachi to collectively provide a stand-alone BWRX-300 SMR nuclear power plant, including the design, engineering, licensing support, procurement, construction, installation, testing, commissioning, completion and turnover of the Facility, including related training, infrastructure and ancillary buildings, all in accordance with the terms of this Project Agreement so as to provide Owner (OPG) with a fully functional Facility.


How will you contribute to the team?
Prepare and approve radioactive work plans to support station operations, rehabilitation and decommissioning activities.

  • Develop and deliver radiation protection training
  • Develop and recommend radiation safety controls for radiological work such as irradiated component removal from the reactor core and radioactive waste processing
  • ALARA planning to support CANDU large scale core component removal and replacement
  • Review design descriptions, details and recommend worker dose reduction strategies
  • For worker radiation exposure and dose budgeting purposes develop individual and collective radiation dose projections
  • Perform radiation shielding calculations and develop basic computer models to assess hazard profiles

What will you contribute to the team?

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience working in CANDU power plants or equivalent nuclear industry.
  • Undergraduate degree in Health Physics or equivalent. Preference will be given to Postgraduate degrees or equivalent qualifications.
  • Experience in dealing with a large organization to address broad scope radiation safety needs
  • Effective communication of the radiation safety compliance requirements to the organization.
