Reporting to Manager, Taxation, the Tax Analyst is responsible for tax filings, compliance, analyses, and assisting in audits, with the primary focus on Corporate Income Tax.

This individual will also participate in various tax and tax-related projects as required.


This position requires the incumbent to deliver strong accounting, technical, and analytical knowledge in Corporate Tax, Premium Tax, and Commodity Tax; to demonstrate the ability to read and understand complex instructions and guidance, to possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, to possess organization skills to be able to prioritize responsibilities and to meet tight deadlines.

You're great at:


  • Preparing Federal and provincial filings including income tax returns for assigned legal entities
  • Preparing premiuM/Fire tax returns and reports, ensuring compliance with tax legislation and, research of tax issues and changes.
  • Monthly, quarterly, and annual income tax provision calculations, entries, and reconciliations
  • Assisting with other tax compliance tasks including calculation, payment, and monitoring of tax instalments, and account reconciliations
  • Assisting sales tax manager with retail sales tax and SAM filings
  • Providing support in internal and external audits, including various other tax issues, assessments, and inquiries
  • Assisting in all aspects of the tax functions including proper documentation of work
  • Ensuring operational efficiency of the Tax Department is maintained at a high level in accordance with approved policy and procedures
  • Contributing to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes.

You have:


  • 24 years of experience working in taxation and/or accounting
  • Knowledge of the federal and provincial income tax legislation and regulations
  • Undergraduate degree in a financial discipline or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; CPA Certification or enrollment in the program is an asset
  • Working knowledge of the insurance industry and the unique rules associated with accounting and tax reporting
  • Experience with online tax research tools
  • Wellorganized with a high level of attention to detail, able to manage several complex processes/tasks with a high level of accuracy
  • Ability to manage priorities in a demanding and deadlineoriented environment
