Job Duties:
-
Business Development_
- Collaborate on program management tasks for projects that are in line with company, client and regulatory requirements
- Support business development efforts, including potential client/prospect identification, proposal writing and clientfacing activities
Project Management_
- Monitor project execution, including establishing and tracking project metrics and conducting project evaluation
- Support the endtoend creation, development, and analysis of large, complex, disparate data sets to identify actionable insights for senior researchers
- Support the design of research methodologies and project management
- Work closely with clients and community members to successful execute project deliverables.
- Coordinate projects by developing and maintaining project/task schedules and budgets for project components, and monitoring project progress, work hours, budgets and expenditures using project scheduling and cost control tools.
Analysis and Technical Skills_
- Work closely with senior Firelight researchers and Indigenous partners to: produce thematic analyses, assess impacts, identify mitigation recommendations, develop policies, support various communitydriven initiatives, and complete necessary deliverables for Indigenous clients.
- Support the assessment of project impacts on the socioeconomic environment, including consideration of regional and local economies, community services and infrastructure, land use and recreation, and community wellbeing and safety.
- Prepare socioeconomic research products and data analysis for various Indigenous communities
- Develop and maintain project schedules and budgets using project scheduling and cost control tools
- Develop, conduct, analyze and report on interviews, surveys and focus groups focused on social, economic, and cultural conditions, trends, and the potential effects of industrial development on land within Indigenous communities
Report Writing_
- Write literature reviews, including socioeconomic research analysis
- Provide plain language summaries of complex social and economic information for community partners
- Collaborate on the drafting and finalization of project reports
Relationship building:
- Build and maintain strong supportive relationships with clients and various project partners
- Assist with Firelight internal and external communications
- Mentor and support junior staff
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree in social or environmental science or other related field (Master's preferred) PLUS a minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in Socioeconomic research or equivalent
- Experience working with qualitative and quantitative research methodologies in an applied setting
- Experience working with Indigenous communities
Required Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficient in Microsoft office suite, specifically Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Excellent writing, communication, organizational, computer and time management skills
- Ability to work within a fastpaced environment that includes independent and collaborative work
- Knowledge of topics, issues, and opportunities pertaining to Indigenous communities
- Knowledge of social sciences and environmental impact assessment method, techniques, and practices
- Ability to consistently deliver ontime reports, analyses, proposals, and other materials
- Driver's licence required with the ability to travel regularly up to 5 days per month, not necessarily consecutively, sometimes in remote communities
