Job Summary:

Category Development Manager - Produce
, we'd ask you to do the following for us:


  • Manage the development and implementation of multiyear category strategy for defined business channels to ensure that our Member Development Group achieves its annual financial targets; includes developing a strong understanding of the channel's unique market conditions, leading the development of promotion plans, supporting the creation of a range of other department planning processes (e.g., purchasing plan, sourcing process, etc.) and managing assigned projects.
  • Develop multiyear strategy for assigned categories by developing an expert understanding of business channel complexities and growth opportunities, keeping up to date on industry trends and communicating with the Procurement and Distribution teams, to achieve business objectives and improve business performance.
  • Participate in developing overall purchasing business plan, as well as identify and support the execution of product and category growth opportunities with sectors and committed customers.
  • Work with sector marketing teams to develop promotional plans, including merchandising component, a specific channel focus and vendor participation.
  • Participate in 7step sourcing process by suggesting continuous improvements and facilitating teamwork and crossfunctional collaboration.
  • Provide project management support for both daytoday and longterm category activities and initiatives.
  • Support the development and maintenance of relationships with more senior level manufacturers to support category plans and ensure alignment with sourcing strategy for production and distribution.
  • Review contracts to ensure that contractual obligations have been met.
  • Respond to inquiries and complaints from clients and regulatory agencies.
  • Write speeches and articles for publication within prescribed format.
  • Create and update project plans.
  • Liaise between Business Needs and Units to determine best products, options, and sources of supply.

Here's how we'll know you are the best fit:

  • 1 year Procurement and Supply Chain experience, in a Junior Buyer or Analyst position
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • PMAC preferred.
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Effective verbal and written communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Proficiency in mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, and percentages.
  • Strong analytical and logical skills combined with the ability to prioritize appropriately.
  • Ability to interact effectively with various levels of an organization.
  • Strong project management and presentation skills.
