Description

Responsibilities include:


  • Managing mouse strains, mouse breeding, genotyping, and record keeping.
  • Assist members of the lab performing mouse experiments.
  • Sterile processing of umbilical cord blood, peripheral blood, and bone marrow samples
  • Assist in cell culture of various cell lines including human pluripotent stem cells.
  • Manage inventory of cell lines.
  • Perform defined molecular biology (eg, qPCR, cloning) and biochemistry (eg, Western blots) experiments in collaboration with lab members.
  • Present research progress in lab meetings.
  • Assist in administrative tasks.
  • Maintain updated records electronically for all procedures and tasks.
  • Quality test new reagents, including media or substrates.
  • Perform mycoplasma DNA testing by PCR for cell lines.
  • Ship cells to collaborating labs.
  • Assist other staff in administrative and financial tasks.
  • Assist other staff and trainees in research projects as needed, including CRISPR gene editing or stem cell differentiation/reprogramming protocols.

Basic Requirements:


  • A minimum of a threeyear college diploma, or BSc in biological sciences combined with experience in cell culture, cellbased and quality control assays
  • 15 years of experience working in a research laboratory
  • Possess excellent sterile technique and experience in mammalian cell culture.
  • Experience in basic molecular biology techniques: DNA and RNA extractions, molecular cloning, PCR, gel electrophoresis.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage a large number of samples.
  • Excellent record keeping and ability to use an electronic database.
  • Time management skills and flexibility with respect to multitasking.
  • Ability to work both independently and in teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work part time on weekends on a regular or semiregular basis.

Preferred Qualification:


  • Experience in cell culture.
  • Experience in CRISPR gene editing.
  • Experience in digital droplet PCR and/or qPCR.
  • Experience in quality control.

Contract Details:

This is a 2-year full-time contract with the expectation of renewal.


Salary Min:
$21.278/hr - Max:$30.747/hr
