Description
Position Summary:
Under the direction of the COO, the Controller is responsible for overseeing financial activities, reporting on financial results, managing accounting staff, budgeting, disbursing funds, managing risk, implementing policies, and improving financial processes.
Controller KEY responsibilities:
- Manage and coach the Accounting Team, which includes;
- Employee performance management/development: Performance Appraisals, performance management, training, auditing, coaching, quality and quantity of work monitoring, payroll/Human Resource/Privacy reporting, recruitment, motivation
- Overseeing the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Directing financial planning and strategy
- Overseeing audit and tax functions
- Developing and implementing accounting policies
- Preparing forecasts and comprehensive budgets
- Reviewing departmental budgets
- Assessing, managing, and minimizing risk
- Analyzing complex financial data
- Managing internal controls
- Managing company cash flows
- Leading team building events virtually and inoffice Key Moments to bring the team together and promote a positive work environment
- Be decisive on complex issues by ensuring consistency with strategies, priorities and processes
- Main Activities:_
- Adhere to workday schedule.
- Maintain uptodate knowledge of department policies and procedures.
- Participate in team meetings, workshops and individual coaching sessions.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues.
- Actively participate in performance management process in support of own personal and professional departmental objectives.
- Maintain knowledge of and complete annual training of any compliance requirements.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
- 5+ years of progressive experience in Finance
- Chartered Professional Accountancy (CPA) designation
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Excel)
- Ability to analyze numerical data in tables, spreadsheets, graphs, and diagrams
- Ability to present complex ideas in simple formats using graphs, tables, and diagrams.
- Experience in statistical analysis techniques such as regression analysis
- Financial modelling experience
- High level of accountability and ability to effectively prioritize tasks.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and across functional teams.
- Experience working and managing a team remotely preferred
- Bilingual (French) considered an asset
- Previous experience at a Finance Company considered an asset
Working Conditions:
- Works indoors in adequate workspace, with adequate temperature, ventilation, and lighting.
- Normal exposure to noise, stress, and disruptions.
- Must be able to sit at a computer for long periods throughout the workday, with intermittent periods of standing, walking to carry out essential duties of the job.
- Standard 37.5hour workweek, including rotational evenings/weekends required.
Salary:
$75,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
