The Manager of Labour Relations will be part of the People & Culture leadership team, participating in strategic and operational discussions and decisions on labour relations issues, priorities, systems, processes, and performance indicators.


This position manages the development and updating of relevant People & Culture policies, working with the Human Resources Managers & VP, People & Culture on relevant staff issues, revising the P&C Operations Manual and ensuring a common understanding and interpretation of policies and of the collective agreement.

The Manager is also responsible for building trainings and resources for leaders, as needed.

What you'll be making:


  • $39.38 per hour (Manager Grid)
  • The above are initial rates; with grid increases as per policy
  • Internal staff members will be placed on the appropriate grid based on their current rate of pay, up to Level 8 of the grid (see Intranet Policy )

  • 70 hours over twoweek period; Monday-Friday 8:30am4:30pm

HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING A DIFFERENCE:


_ Employee & Labour Relations:
_


  • Ensures a strong working knowledge of the CMHA TVAMHS Collective Bargaining Agreement(s) (CBA) and assists leaders to appropriately interprets clauses within the CBA.
  • Acts as a resource to ensure compliance with the CBA, serving as a liaison to educate leaders and seeks to resolve disputes between employees and management.
  • Leads and participates in professional consultations and grievance meetings to address complaints resulting from disputes with unionized employees over the CBA, program procedures, policy challenges, and the interpretation of work contracts.
  • Maintains accurate and organized records of labor relations activities, negotiations, grievances, and resolutions.
  • Ensures that labourrelated grievances are investigated and resolved in a fair and consistent manner, ensuring compliance with collective agreements and labour laws.
  • Collaborates with Human Resources, legal counsel, and Managers / Directors to develop and implement strategies that align labor relations with the organization's mission and goals.
  • Develops and updates labourrelated policies and procedures relevant to reflect best practices, legislative changes, and organizational needs.
  • Guides all disciplinary actions in a professional, fair, and effective manner.
  • Recommends and/or develops and delivers training programs for leaders to enhance their understanding of labour relations and related issues and to build confidence in their ability to manage effectively in a unionized environment.
  • Prepares information and makes recommendations for CMHA TVAMHS to use during union negotiations.
  • Actively participates in the negotiation of collective bargaining agreements with the union as part of the CMHA TVAMHS leadership bargaining team.

_ Analytics and HR Metrics:
_


  • Analyze labourrelated data and metrics to identify trends, assess organizational performance, and make datadriven recommendations for improvement.
  • Oversees the compilation of HR metrics (ie. vacancy rates, absenteeism rates, turnover rates, etc.) including analyzing, reporting and identifying trends and build strategies for leaders to address these issues.
  • Researches current trends in collective bargaining agreements and stays uptodate on changes to Ontario employment legislation, labour relations legislation, regulations and industry standards, and provides guidance and recommendations to ensure compliance.

_ Leadership and Human Resources:
_


  • Provides leadership and consulting support to members of the leadership team on matters of reinforcing culture, setting goals, developing policy, and implementing strategic objectives to affectively achieve their goals.
  • Guides leaders to ensure they communicate changes, etc. with union in an appropriate and timely manner.
  • Participates in discussions and guides leaders to determining appropriate, fair, and dignified disciplinary actions when required.
  • Develops protocols for leaders with the purpose of building confidence in their ability to participate in a meeting that involves the union.
  • Coaches and guides leaders to prepare them for meetings that involve the union.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to equity and a positive work experience for all staff by providing input into organizational policies and structures to eliminate barriers and foster inclusion for all
