The role will require:

The Role:


  • Receive incoming shipments of raw materials, ingredients, and packaging materials.
  • Inspect deliveries for accuracy, quantity, quality, food safety and compliance with company standards.
  • Ensure that food safety and hygiene protocols are followed during the receiving process.
  • Maintain accurate records of received items, including product names, quantities, lot numbers, and expiration dates.
  • Report any discrepancies or issues in received shipments to the appropriate department (QA, Procurement, Finance)
  • Safely and efficiently store received items in designated areas, ensuring proper rotation (FIFO) and organization.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate inventory levels by conducting regular cycle counts and participating in physical inventories.
  • Communicate effectively with drivers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Maintains and monitors all current Quality programs: GMP, HACCP, Prerequisite programs, BRC.
  • Conducts a daily preoperational inspection of the facility and identifies for correction nonconformances such as unclean equipment, poor housekeeping, and water spills, open doors, security etc.
  • Works directly with Suppliers and TONFI purchasing group to, in a timely manner, inspect, release, detain, as necessary, all packaging and ingredients.
  • Proactively works directly with suppliers to ensure that all required documentation is in place prior to receipt of shipments, as well as to ensure that all potential issues and delays are effectively communicated.
  • Reports any FS/Quality issues to the TONFI Quality Assurance Manager to address with Production, Maintenance, Warehousing or Purchasing management. Documents findings in a clear, concise and structured format
  • Conducts GMP audits and remedial actions to correct nonconformances either in product / trucks received and within the warehousing operation. Routinely monitors warehouse HACCP program as it related to TONFI and raises for address, any nonconformances. Conducts internal premises inspection (outside/inside) to identify structural (cracks, gaps, holes etc.), pest control issues.
  • All nonconformances are documented and reported for analysis, tracking and corrective actions.
  • Develops and maintains supplier deviation management / tracking system, inclusive of managing the issuance of any CAPA related to supply concerns.
  • Manages the product testing program for incoming ingredients.
  • Inspects all raw material and packaging receipts to validate the product integrity and quantity.

Qualifications / Skills:


  • Bachelor of Science or Diploma in Microbiology, food science, food technology, or related fields
  • Good understanding of food manufacturing and warehouse receiving
  • Experience in quality systems
  • Some knowledge of quality tools: Lean, Six Sigma, CI considered an asset
  • Relevant professional certifications highly desirable
  • 35 years' experience in a Quality Assurance role in a food, or consumer health care business
  • Good understanding of HACCP principles
  • Wellversed on Food Manufacturing GMP's
  • Demonstrates a relentless approach to continuous improvement.
  • Possesses a personal conviction for thorough documentation and followup on Food Safety and Quality nonconformances.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Demonstrated ability to train and coach production staff on Food Safety and Quality Control
  • BRC experience is an asset
  • Demonstrates accountability, persistence, and adaptability
  • Experienced in MS Excel, Word, Outlook and X
