The Student Housing Programs (SHP) Manager is responsible for achieving assigned and developed goals and objectives through the effective management of Conestoga College's Student Housing Programs department.

The SHP Manager will lead and provide direction on the development of a College-wide model for the development, deployment, and support of Student Housing Programs that meet established College and department goals.

The incumbent will provide oversight on multiple residence locations and off-campus resources, by creating a point of information and services for all students.


Through effective collaboration and facilitation, the SHP Manager would problem solve, measure, and plan the required student housing programs to support and align the local delivery with broader institutional priorities.


Responsibilities:


On-Campus Housing Programs

  • Responsible for the management of vendor relationships that provide service management for the multiple residence buildings within the portfolio
  • Ensures effective and efficient allocation of fiscal, human, and physical resources within the portfolio, including monitoring, analysing, reviewing, and optimizing Student Housing Programs performance
  • Provides input to the ongoing and continuous service and operational improvements for all areas of responsibility through research, recommendations, and effective decisionmaking
  • Under the direction of the Director of Ancillary Services, develops lead Collegewide discussions and uses various sources to understand internal needs and opportunities
  • Develops, researches, and identifies sales, collaboration, usage, and promotional opportunities, pursuing revenuegenerating opportunities across all campuses
  • Facilitates and supports regular meetings of the Residence Community Committee, including ensuring the recording and distribution of meeting minutes
  • Supports the CARE Team by representing Student Housing in the followup of incidents and concerns reported
  • Resolves student conflicts and complaints as escalated, by consulting with Student Rights & Responsibilities, Care Team, and Security
  • Develops internal processes for managing emergency issues resulting in the displacement of students including actions, budget use, student/parent response, and CARE follow up
  • Acts as a liaison with the internal College departments to ensure processes and approvals that involve other College departments are completed (e.g. Service Animal Request process)
  • Develops and implements semester site reviews, including the visual inspection of spaces and projects; Schedules College required assessments and provides support for these reviews
  • Ensures the tagging and listing of all physical assets within the Residence buildings and proper disposal of assets are adhered to
  • Develops, coordinates, monitors, and updates plans for effective implementation of all facets of annual marketing, communication, project, and operational plans
  • Manages the student housing website, including promotion of oncampus community and choice of residence as an option for students

Off-Campus Housing Programs

  • Management of thirdparty vendors that provides offcampus listings and tenant education services
  • Develops and manages services that support offcampus student housing, including the curation of resources and noninstitutional supports for current and prospective students, and ensures information is available for students within different communication channels
  • Ensures the marketing of offcampus services and successful integration of content
  • Develops and maintains community relationships external to the college that are pertinent to the support of offcampus student housing, including community associations, professional associations, thirdparty service providers, shelters, hotels, working groups, research, etc.
  • Along with Student Service colleagues and other stakeholders, supports special events and extracurricular programming that occurs oncampus (e.g. orientation, open houses, etc.)

Planning & Projects

  • Works with the Executive Director to develop and implement short and longterm strategic plans for student housing to address oncampus and offcampus needs aligned with the goals of Student Success and the mission of Conestoga College
  • Takes an entrepreneurial/visionary approach to the development and expansion of Student Housing Programs by seeking and developing opportunities to enhance value and continuous improvement opportunities throughout Student Success and Student Ancil
