Responsibilities:


  • Seeks new and innovative methods and study focus areas to enhance programming while maintaining or improving current financial status and market share.
  • Leads program development and program review initiatives including the research, competitive analysis, future job forecasts to align programs to job market requirements.
  • Researches and writes course descriptions, learning outcomes and reviews up to 100 courses annually for potential updates.
  • Provides updates to international bodies and local funding organizations on graduate employment success.
  • Negotiates partnership and articulation agreements with University of Winnipeg programs, corporate partners and works collaboratively with national and international postsecondary institutions.
  • Consults with academic departments, particularly within the Department of Applied Computer Science and the Faculty of Business and Economics, to facilitate the delivery of joint programs, articulation agreements, course equivalency requirements, and evaluation standards.
  • Serves on and/or chairs community and university advisory committees, professional associations, and program development committees.
  • Develops new business relationships locally, nationally, and internationally.
  • Leads program reviews and Senate proposals and new course proposals/changes
  • Seeks external and internal funding opportunities for special projects.
  • Promotes, networks and markets PACE programs through business community, tradeshows, as well as developing strategic partnerships with corporate, government and community groups.
  • Plans, schedules, coordinates, and implements courses and programs within designated areas of program content.
  • Maps out required knowledge competencies set by designating bodies, consults industry specialists on professional competency requirements, and ensures the program curriculum aligns with and the course outlines reflect these requirements.
  • Conducts grade comparisons to synchronize testing standards within a single course area with multiple instructors.
  • Determines instructional needs for all courses within the fulltime program, appoints/hires instructors and negotiates instructional stipends.
  • Determines all decisions for all assigned full time programs or courses ensuring that enrolment meet minimum financial and academic requirements.
  • Oversees that PACE academic and student policies/procedures is implemented in programs, including grading, refunds, transfer credits, course evaluations, academic misconduct etc.
  • Ensures academic conduct is maintained in all programs.
  • Develops program specific marketing plans and works with the Executive Director PACE and the Marketing Manager to ensure PACE consistency
  • Facilitates webinar sessions for potential students and external agencies as required to help increase awareness and enrolment.
  • Accountable for achieving financial targets and budgets set for individual programs within the area of academic responsibility.
  • Manages all financial activities in the program area including budget planning at course and program level, expense approval, setting enrolment targets, financial monitoring and administration
  • Works with the Director of Finance to provide operational and student information to support PACE's periodic financial reporting
  • Collaborates with the Academic Advisors who act as the first point of contact for instructors and students on all academic and student matters, including academic misconduct issues, appeals and participates in the decisionmaking process with regard to the disposition of appeals and other special requests.
  • Provides guidance to the Academic Advisors on program specific academic advice and counseling to current and prospective students. Makes referrals to other internal or external resources to support learning needs (ie. Accessibility Services, Counseling Services or tutoring supports) or financial aid
  • Makes recommendations to improve academic intervention and program delivery strategies to promote student success and improve student retention rates. Addresses potential atrisk PACE students, explores learning supports with individual students and counsels instructors accordingly
  • Approves all grades for IT fulltime courses and supports instructors in addressing potential grade, behavioural or absenteeism issues.
  • Identifies and recruits new instructors required for programs, including interviewing, assessing fit with courses, hiring, monitoring, terminating and negotiating levels of instructional stipends on a casebycase basis within University and department procedures.
  • Projects instructional needs for all courses, identifies instructional shortages, determines instructional coordination and succession planning.
  • Monitors student evaluation, course quality, and informal feedback to ensure all assigned instructors meet classroom management expectations and maximize learning outcomes to PACE standards.
