We currently have a
Regular Full-time opportunity for a
Manager (Energy & Sustainability) in the
Plant Operations & Maintenance department at
Bayview.



Hours of Work:
Mon-Fri, Days, with some flexibility required


Summary of Duties

  • Manages a sustainability program designed to achieve savings while contributing to environmental protection. Fosters energy efficient practices and behaviors throughout the organization to further advance Sunnybrook's existing reputation as a national healthcare leader in sustainability.
  • Provides technical leadership to operations staff, and project management, to improve efficiency and reliability of mechanical & electrical systems including Sunnybrook's future 8MW GTG Cogeneration plant.
  • Manages energy monitoring, verification, reporting, auditing and procurement activities and the development of an online, realtime metering solution.
  • Works closely with our energy management partners to develop new energy conservation and infrastructure improvement measures.
  • Stays apprised of, and applies for, financial incentives related to energy and the environment.
  • Promotes Ontario's legislated "3Rs Program" (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle) within the organization and the community, including waste and transportation initiatives.
  • In consultation with Public Affairs, develops and implements communication strategies, promotional materials and educational information to support program goals. Develops and presents information to groups throughout the organization.

Qualifications/Skills

  • Postsecondary degree/diploma in related field of study required.
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM), LEED and/or other related qualifications
  • Demonstrated expertise in energy conservation practices, ideally in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong technical background in building systems, including HVAC, GTG CHP, building automation systems, lighting, motors, speed drives.
  • Understanding of applicable building codes and standards
  • Energy project management experience
  • Experience in the development of multimedia communication strategies, including: posters/display material, webpages, audio/video presentations.
  • Advanced knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Photoshop, Publisher and AutoCad.
  • Demonstrated creativity, organizational and analytical skills
  • Outstanding communication skills are essential. Able to utilize a number of different communication mediums and be sensitive to the impacts of each so that the right combination of medium/message is used. Demonstrated experience as a public speaker.
