ob Summary:

Responsible for aiding in the design of automation machinery based on customer information, company and departmental standards and supervisor and peer input.

Responsible for ensuring that the design meets the customer's expectations, is completed within the scheduled timeframe, and can be manufactured within the budgeted time and costs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
include the following; other duties may be assigned.

Required to work in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with company Health and Safety and Other Policies
Determine, understand and verify the function and mechanics of assigned project
Review concepts with Intermediate and Senior Mechanical Designers and supervisors, as required
Experience working in our Machine Shop and Assembly area
Be a technical resource for Mechanical Designer
Detail drawings of custom automation and collaborate with Mechanical Detailers to check drawing packages
Source appropriate mechanical, sensing, pneumatic and hydraulic components, including quotes for specialized purchased equipment
Assist with compiling a Sequence of Operations, I/O List, Pneumatic BOM and Valve Bank Layout
Learn to use AutoDesk Inventor
Team up with programmers to assist with a seamless integration of automation
Field questions from machine shop and assembly during the build phase
Stores data (specifications, quotes, estimates, drawings etc.) according to Systematix' standards Able to perform all above duties in a timely manner and in an ISO 9001 environment

Position Requirements:
(Knowledge, Skill, Ability)

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions
Ability to work at basic levels of design complexity
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
Ability to proficiently use CAD and current office computer software
Must be creative, have a mechanical aptitude and think and visualize in 3 dimensions

Autonomy and Authority

Receive instructions on specific assignment tasks and methods of approach.
Work progress is under regular review
May provide assistance to machine shop, assembly and detailer with respect to the work being performed
Regular supervision of others is not a normal part of this position

Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
Working towards a Technologist Diploma or a Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Ability to hold a valid Passport and driver's licence may be required, as well as the ability to travel to customer sites both locally and internationally

Special Requirements (physical demands and work environment):
The employee occasionally will spend time in an environment where he/she is exposed to medium to high noise levels and where safety glasses and adequate shoes are essential
